As for hauling my brother uses an old Dodge M880, about a 77 or so not sure. I currently am pickup truckless so I haul with a small trailer, the back of the 80 or with my 1978 Ramcharger.

We store the wood in an old corn crib that we moved to the property from up the road. Old corn cribs work great as they have the spaces between the slats of boards for air to pass through. My brother uses a couple of old corn cribs as well. My brother, father and I moved the one that sets next tot he old house currently.

I have spent a lot of time burning piles of the old cedar wood shingles that came off the roof prior to putting on the new roof.

This is a very interesting thread to read through. I still have not read through the whole thing but going to go back and finish it. Some really impressive wood cutting going on here!

The stove pipe is the heavy gauge 8" stove pipe. It changes over to a double walled stainless steel pipe before it goes through the roof. As I said, using a digital camera to zoom up the pipe and take pictures turned out to be a great way to inspect the pipe for soot buildup.

The house has one wood stove and three fireplaces. I may add another smaller wood stove in the older part of the house.

Some pics of the pipe before I straightened, cleaned and painted it. Some of the inside of the pipe and the setup outside on the roof. A picture of one of the older chimneys.

And after all that I will get to the D'Animals questions... ;)

Who cuts firewood? I do (a little but will be doing more) and my brother.
How much do you cut annually? Not sure yet...will update as I get more into that and less on renovations.
How do you haul it? Back of the 80, with a 78 Ramcharger or with help from my brother in his M880. Other power wagons and trucks on the property but need to get running...
How do you process it? I have a Stihl M261. My brother a Stihl Farm Boss. We use a wood splitter (our dads) that attaches to the three point hitch on the tractor.
Do you burn it? Yes, Burn it in the inside wood stoves and my brother does in his wood furnace. The larger straight trunks we try to use for lumber.

Hmmm. Maybe we should start a similar thread on milled wood...?

Some cedar the fellow down the road milled for us and the porch it turned into on my dad's place.

I really enjoy seeing all these old trucks still in service and hard at work.

I like seeing the power wagons in the background. I see an M-37 (or some military flavored PW) and a flat fender civilian PW behind the pile of milled wood.

Very cool!

You are correct. Some flat fenders and some M37's. A carryall in the barn. Would like to get some of them running again and put back to work.

My grandfather sold Chrysler products starting somewhere in the 1920's and up and through the 1970's or so. Dodge family but have Subarus and Toyotas that hang out with us and they all get along just fine.

Very nice! We had 4 PW's at one time (all running/driving). Dad is now down to just the one WM300 (and a bunch of cruisers).

Someday I will get another flat fender Power Wagon to plow the road, and haul firewood a little easier than my dump truck.

Thanks. W300, Nice.

They are wonderful trucks. The M37's are great to use around on the farm. Three of these just need one or 2 small things to get them going. But been sitting so who knows now. Will have to go through the resurrection process.

My brother has a nice B3 that he keeps in the barn. It runs great, always has. He looked through this thread and it made him want to get it back out for some work. I'll see if we can get some firewood hauling shots of the B3.

Very nice. My dad had a very nice B2, that he donated to a local museum. We just couldn't stand the thought of it ever getting hacked with a V8 (it was ALL original), and it was a truck sold new to the University here, and had literally never left the state. I hear it's the museum's favorite vehicle by far (as it should be).

The WM300 is Dad's plow truck, and has 22,000 original miles still.

Because it is very dry where he is at things don't rot very fast. There is a lot of nitrogen in wood ashes that helps the earth and plants.

Santa just ordered a Silky for his wife....

So she would stop borrowing his junk for lite limbing jobs.:hillbilly:
