Nope.. Marley is 100% OEM factory under the hood and runs great.

yeah see that is what I thought. Lengths of hoses will be different for the desmog, hence the need for a bit more..

Bummer, so I haven't heard from the guy that was going to get me a DS window regulator in quite a while and we have been hammered with rain/snow the last two days. Anyone know if there is a window regulator from a different vehicle, say a 80 mini truck or 4runner, that will work? Thinking of taking a run down to the PNP this weekend but their site shows no cruisers. Got to get one soon because driving for more than 20 minutes causes the window to slowly start going down on its own. Gotta start combing through the parts thread too.

Greg- A few months late, but nevertheless, congrats on your new ride! I just read through the 7 pages of projects you've been working on. I've got a couple of similar quirks I'm seeing as well. Please keep up the postings, it's definitely helping me out for one in diagnosing and fixing all the little issues!

Glad to be of help dude. Make sure that you have copies of the FSMs on your computer or handy (the repair manual is over 700 pages so that one might be harder to do) is the best piece of advice I can give. Ask lots of questions but do your research beforehand to make sure it isn't an easy fix.

And most of all post up pics of your ride!!!

With all the rain storms that we have had the last few days I have realized that the bent lower tailgate on BeBe is a bit of a problem. Not much water gets through but when going more than 15mph the road noise that is translated through the seemingly small opening between the slightly bent gate and the dead weatherstripping around the tailgate area is quite apparent.
Then this evening I remembered that I still had some of this foam airduct tape sitting in the garage. While probably not the best solution I figured that until I can get a new weatherstrip for the tailgate this will have to do.
This is the stuff.

After putting down three layers of it just on the bottom lip of the tailgate I have to say that it has worked quite well. After a quick drive around the block there is no sound coming through the gap nor does it feel wet on the edge of the carpet. I remember this stuff being cheap and I actually bought it as a small amount of padding for the vertical stand that I made for our paddleboard in the garage.

Hopefully soon enough I can get one of the new weatherstrips from Kevin R or find one elsewhere.. but for now this does the trick and I think the 30ft roll was only like $10 from Lowes.

FSM's are already downloaded and on the desktop and iPad. I've got the 2F Emission, 2F Engine, 1986 Maintenance, and Chassis/Body 84-90 to start off. This weekend is shot, but sometime in the next week or two I'm planning on draining and servicing. . . everything then move on from there.

Sweet just got done talking with Jason from CruiserYard. He is going to have a new regulator I the mail for me on Monday! Watch now it will stop raining for over a month.

Ok so this weekend or tomorrow I want to go spray off all the grime that is underneath the rig so I can see what all is really leaking. Should I cover the dizzy with a plastic bag?

Well got a message from Jason and ends up the regulator was toast that he was going to get me. So looks like it is off to Ebay or Amazon for one (unless someone on here has one they can get me ASAP). Storm has moved forward to Wednesday mid-day with 60% change of rain. So need to get this done sooner than later.

WHATEVER!!! Don't suppose anyone happened to notice the cats-meow welding/mod job J did here to his air intake. Sly bastar@! ;)

Holy Blue Spaghetti Batman! WOW I'm glad we do not have to have all that crap on our engines here in OZ.

Hence why I am planning on doing the desmog. Will free up some real-estate in there for fun things like air pumps, dual battery, etc!! :D

It has been a busy week and yesterday evening the newest addition to the family came into the world at 11:51pm. My brother and his wife had their little girl Autumn Luciana Fisicaro so naturally the whole family came up and has been here since early yesterday evening.
Today of course I received the new window regulator but did not get it until late so no working on BeBe til at least tomorrow. My sister and nephew are staying with us and so I took my nephew up one of the backcountry access road.
Unfortunately I found out the hard way that I really need to get this brake issue figured out before I try anymore off roaring. We went up a loose section that was narrow and ended up not being able to make it over a crest. Only way around it was to back down 200yds of trail with what felt like zero brake (I was standing on the pedal to stop our decent). We made it down fine and I didnt freak him out, just had to Keep Calm and Chive On the entire time.

Anyways he still had fun and my sister didn't kill me but I really need to figure this out before attempting that hill again. At on point I pulled on the ebrake (was going to see if I could get her to stop for me to jump out and engage the hubs) on to continue rolling back. The brakes did grind and make noise so I think that their adjustment is completely out of whack for the rears. Looks like this week is gonna be fun.

Finally just finished installing the window regulator. Sucked because I got it about halfway done when a could of the bolts that hold the body in place stripped the threads. Ended up going to NAPA and found what I believe is the match, M6x1.00x12. I have to say while this was not a hard job, I could not figure out how to pull the window glass out of the door and that holding the glass and trying to mount the bottom rail was completely awkward and ended up being just a PITA.

But after all is said and done, the window goes up and down nicely now and does not rattle and push down like the original. After pulling the original out the teeth on the crank were completely stripped.
I bought through the regulator from autoparts.titan1 for a total of $53.11 shipped!! Ordered on Tuesday and was on my door on Friday evening.

DS Door Lock P/N #69320‑90A00

Ok so the next, cheapish, item will be to replace the drivers side door lock cylinder.
I have found Airtek replacements on ebay for about $45 but would like to buy from a Mud vendor if possible. Checking around for the Toyota P/N#69320‑90A00 I did find what I was looking for but they are over $100/ea!!!!

Any recommendations on where to buy?

Congrats on your new FJ60!

Just found your thread, haven't been on Mud much lately. Looks like your making good progress on her.

Question: I saw that you are planning a desmog. You're in Clark County, right? No emissions test required there? I would love to desmog mine but in Washoe County I can barely get her past the test as it is.

Oh, and for what it's worth I replaced all my vacuum line with the 3mm and 5mm stuff from the boost controller web site. The tubing works great - nice snug fit and very high quality. Plus, the blue color looks sharp under the hood ;).

Thanks CE... yeah luckily since I am in Carson County we dont have to worry about smog stuff. Only two counties in all of Nevada have smog laws; Clark (vegas) and Washoe (reno)....

Thanks for the info on the vacuum line, definitely going to have to pick up some 5mm then. Figured that it would not cause any issues but that was why I was asking. You going to be at next weeks BBCNN meeting?

Thanks for that quick response. I sure wish I didn't have to worry about emissions. The cut off year here is '67 . Anything after has to be smogged and of course my FJ40 is '68. How stupid is that? Not even California worries about cars that old.

I haven't been to a BBCNN meeting yet, though I have been meaning to go to one for quite some time (think years). I'm not a hard-core wheeler, just dig Land Cruisers and like to tinker. But, perhaps I should drag my ass down there :meh:.

Definitely sucks that you have to smog it even at that old. I thought for some reason it was anything older than 30yrs didnt have to be smogged?

Yeah definitely drag your butt down. I am not a hardcore wheeler and most of the guys are not either. Really we are there to meet new people with the same interest. Hell, BeBe is only going to get a mild lift and will be more for fun, expedition style stuff vs. what some of the guys do. She is my daily driver (when I am not riding) anyways.:steer:

CE, do you know of anyone on the California side of Lake Havasu that you could register your vehicle at? That area is smog exempt, due to the fact that there is no smog check station within a 50 mile radius. But don't tell anybody ;)
