I have the Fitech Go Steet 400 on my 76 fj40 2f engine. I used a 4 barrel dual plane Offenhauser intake. I have read that single plane tend to work better with efi but I don't know if it would matter. I have significantly more feel of the pants power and my engine runs really smooth up to 4,000 rpm where I stop pushing it.

It used to feel like my cruiser was going to explode (what I thought was drive train vibration is gone). It runs very well and I could not be happier with it. I have some stumble if I push the pedal quickly but no problems with normal driving only when seeing how it responds to being stomped on. I may be able to be solved with proper settings but could also be from having a big throttle body opening up on an engine that was not really designed to flow so much air. I am still trying to dial that problem in but I don't have much knowledge in that arena. Also could be a result of low compression maybe? I only have 80 lbs in my cylinders.

I had to replace my brake booster with a pancake style (from a 80 series if I remember right, rotated upside down with a spacer) because it was in the way.
Sounds like you need more spark advance possibly.

Just came across this on YouTube while looking at Fitech stuff. Pretty sure that this time next year I will take the plunge on this.

I wonder if that would have any performance gains over the current 4 barrel on a 2f. Also really curious about pricing.

I'm dying to burn money on a Fitech...

Holley is also now making a 2 barrel EFI kit.
Yeah I saw that... wonder how comparable it will be to the FiTech.. Seems like both are self-learning units.

From what that video was making it sound like it will be cheaper than the current cheapest version, which is only like $750 for the unit.

I have a Affordable Fuel Injection system on my 2F and cannot day enough positive about the setup and the customer service I received.
Yeah and it was your detailed post that had me start really looking hard at doing EFI. Main things that have caught my eye about the FiTech over the AFI system are....
1) the FiTech is self-learning, meaning that it will continually do slight adjustments to allow for better running,
2) the user interface to make the modifications to the system is small and self contained unit that allows you the ability to make a multitude of changes on the fly vs. the AFI which is an old TBI computer that must be mounted somewhere and must have an ALDL computer connection to make modifications in a very cumbersome environment, and
3) both systems are similarly priced with similar amounts of modification/fabrication needed for those parts adapted making the first two items a stronger pull for the FiTech.

However, the one thing that the FiTech does not have is the tried and true setup of the TBI which has been around for a VERY long time and is pretty much rock solid. Either would be a great selection for anyone looking to put EFI in their trucks but for me personally the FiTech wins out for user capabilities.

My only question with both fitech and holley is ignition timing control. Can it be made to work? Without timing control fitech and holley will work for sure. But with timing control I'm not sure how to make it work.

What do you mean by timing control? Do you mean does it need something like the HEI DUI dizzy or ???

Yea it would need either a HEI, or modified fj60 distributor. Right now I run a modified FJ60 distributor for timing control with tbi. But holley wants you to adjust the rotor itself, I didn't quite understand that. Maybe I just have to give it more thought or someone to give me a little help with what they are talking about.

At this point that is way above my pay grade for understanding. Maybe if I had one of the systems to tinker with then yeah. Hell I have desmogged my truck EXCEPT for the carb and dizzy... LOL

Modifying a fj60 distributor to work with tbi isn't bad or too hard. But does take some mechanical knowledge. However doing what holley says, that's seems quite a bit more complex to me.

Yeah that is the one thing is the FiTech system does not come with a dizzy like the AFI system does. May shoot them an email to see what they would recommend dizzy-wise for their system.

How would this setup rate powerwise compared to a 2FE, assuming the injection system was the only difference? (same head work, cam, etc).

Note that AFI just came out with a much more sophisticated, self-learning TBI system, as well. Affordable Fuel Injection

I priced it out, and it looks like ~$1850 vs. ~$1250 (about what I just paid). I decided to get old system (on a 20% off sale) since it seems to be well-liked. This is for my '78 FJ40.

Ah ok that's weird.. all I could seem to pull up on my iPad was just the advert page, nothing was actually showing for it for some reason. Now that I am on a computer I can see. Nice that they made it as a engine bay based unit.
