Fat Amy Gets a Set of 37" Tires

I just thought I'd update this thread since I've been using this combination for a few months of daily driving.

I still haven't gotten a chance to do any cutting, but I have had a few chances to flex the rig.

In the rear, there is very very little rubbing at full stuff. Rubbing occurs at the rear of the tire, at the body/tub just above the top of where the OE mudflaps would have been mounted.

This is the best pic I have of the front (not quite full stuff)

Rubbing in the front occurs on the upper part of the plastic inner fender liner, and also on the plastic trim where the OE front mudflaps originally existed. Obviously, I removed the flaps, and if you look at the pic, you can see where I trimmed the plastic trim (the painted trim that sits below the doors, and above the running boards (door sill?))

Roughly 6 1/2" BS +50 offset no spacers

Ive got about 25k miles on the 37s, and no problems whatsoever; including a trip through Ouray and Telluride.

Never really liked the Green Cruiser til I saw yours. Awesome truck - looks great!

I love that you don't even bother with sliders. Is that that the stock running boards I see?

Guess at that height and BL, you don't anticipate anything getting near your rockers.

A buddy of mine owns a tire shop and had a set of 37/12.5/17 Goodyear MTRs he let me borrow. I'm going to drive around for a few weeks and see how they do. If I decide I like 37s, I'll order a new set of Toyos. Otherwise I'll go back to 35s.

Initial thoughts:

-No noticeable loss of power or brakefeel.
-There is some rubbing on the KDSS lever.
There is some rubbing on the body mount bracket that attaches to the frame.
-There is some rubbing on the plastic trim that spans above the running boards; I can easily correct this with a heat gun and a saw.

This thing is a MONSTER. The tires remain (in my opinion) proportional to the truck. I may be mistaken, but this may be the largest road legal 200 in North America.

Truck notes:
3.5" lift from Ironman Suspension & 1" Tundra strut spacers in the front.
10mm OME trim packers in rear.
1" body lift
Slee KDSS relocation brackets
Differential Drop

What does this bad boy weigh?

No idea on weight, and never measured travel. Neither has been an issue.

has anyone pulled the inner plastic to see how much of the fenders "could" be cut if someone wanted to run less bumpstopping and larger wheel spacers? has anyone trimmed the whole fender well yet or just nipped and tucked ends?

Fender flares are readily available for this platform. For an aggressive fitment, no reason why one couldn't roll or cut the metal fender lip behind flares. This is what Arctic Truck does with its larger fitments.

The flares are chunky plastic gotty-ness You be better off finding a good body guy to roll'em for you .... just my take.

The stance is amazing! How does it handle on the street? Especially when compared to the 285/70/17 KO2s?

Never owned k02's so I can't say. I really like them though.

Is there any difference in handling with the bigger tire when compared to stock? Vehicle must sit 4" taller than stock and ride really nice just from the additional rubber. Have you measured how tall your clearance is?

How do you get in and out of vehicle?

Andrew isn't exactly Sasquatch height ;), but he was hopping in and out of that beast with ease last Summer. 4 inches isn't enough to need a ladder like some of those ridiculous full-size pickups.

Honestly, Fat Amy looked balanced and beautiful in Ouray!
(cue "You Are So Beautiful" by Joe Cocker... -After all...Joe was rather beastly back in the day...:grinpimp: )
