I made mine out of some rectangular tube and some 55 rear bumper ends.

Ahh, That would explain the bumper having a curve to it. I thought it had just been bent but when I really looked, it has a curve along the entire bumper. And that would explain what look to be holes for a license plate mount. Hmmm...I could straighten it and use it? It looks much better than the plain steel.

I was thinking of trying to make one of these work. From a 48 to 52 Ford pickup. Plain steel so easy to modify. Fairly inexpensive as well. The ends curve around somewhat like the LV.

Thanks for the Excellent pics fellas! That will help me get the right shape. Getting the brackets set in place to mark and then drill. Also getting the interior panels put back in. Got the trans tunnel in and the shift boots all set. Will post pics when I am back in town.

Got the dash pretty much set. Need to change out the wiper knob for an old one and find a small knob for the dash light dimmer. The trans tunnel is down and sealed and stick shifts and parking brake

are working well.

I just drilled out and sleeved the hood hinges because they were really badly wallowed out. That went well but when I put the hood on, it is really out of alignment? Anyone else have this issue? The hood does not appear to be original. The gap at the windshield is pretty consistent and the drivers front corner is flush but the passenger side front corner is sticking out almost 5/8"? Hood is the same side to side and then I measured the cowl. From the hood corner to the end of the cowl is 8" on the driver's side and 8.5" on the passenger's side? So were the LV hoods custom made? I went and measured the other parts LVI have and it is the same!? Has anyone else noticed this on their LV? Do I just modify the hood to match?

I was actually able to drive the LV around my parking lot though! I had to get a big piece of machinery out of the back of my space and so the LV had to be moved. I sat on some blankets with a box behind me for support. It was awesomely tantalizing! Got into second gear in with the trans very quickly. The 5.3 has some nice pep! Brakes were good but not very powerful? I am pretty sure it was due to the fact that I was not completely full of fluid yet. Man I cannot wait to get this on the road!!

I’m certainly no expert but I had a similar issue on my LV. I ended up loosening the bolts that held the fender in place and the bolts that held the hood hinge and was able to shift things around to get them to line up. I suspect this will work for you.

I loosened everything and that is as good as I can get! Very curious if other LV's have the differing cowl measurements? The parts one I have is also 1/2" off from side to side.

Got the head rest tubes installed so the seats can go out for upholstery!

Also giving the steering wheel a fresh coat of paint.

Getting the tailgate and door hardware cleaned up. Soaking in Evapo-Rust seems to be doing a great job!

What's the wheel paint? Brush, spray? Is that fill and sanding in first pic? Very nice job.

Yeah I want to know what you fill the cracks with. Looks good

I used PC-7 to fill the cracks then epoxy primer, sand to 400 and then top coat is some left over two part marine urethane made by Petit called "Perfection". Brushed primer and sprayed top coat.

Where do get PC-7 and what exactly is it ? i've never heard of it . thanks
