Good write up, thanks for that Phil. Bummer to hear the filler necks are NLA. I guess used it is for me then. Unless for some odd reason I am able to source a new one via my secret site in Japan.
I had an aux tank in my Tacoma. For the same reasons I want one in the 80. Range sucks. The Taco I got total onboard fuel up to 38gals which pushed my range over 500 miles. I really liked it a lot. I didn't use a duel filler neck, don't think they make one for a Taco. I had the tank made by a guy I know who does SS and aluminum work. It mounted where the stock spare goes and fit perfect, all 19.5gals of it. Basically the same set up as your Cruiser, I even cut the aux tank to main tank filler tube the same as you did here on your Cruiser. Transfer from aux tank to main tank. Is this how Toyota did it on Cruisers with the factory aux tank? Meaning, was the factory aux tank just a transfer tank?
Taking note on the Holly blue pump. When I did the Taco I got the highest flow pump I could find. It was only about 90gals/hr.
I had one issue with the Taco aux tank and wondering if it is an issue to be expected on the Cruiser too. That was, I could over pressurize the main tank with the aux tank. For example, driving down the road, main tank at 1/2, I would move 1/2 of the aux tank to main, don't like the weight behind the rear axle so would try to move the fuel forward asap. Took awhile to move the fuel so if I spaced out on it, it would overfill the main tank. Gas would pour out the main tank filler neck when I did this. At least one time (if not 3-4x) it pressurized the main tank to the point that the truck started to run bad. Truck would stutter. Pretty sure I was over pressurizing the fuel system. Down shift, rev it high, run it that way for a few miles and burn off excess fuel and it would go back to normal. Any ways, just curious if the Cruiser set it will do the same?
Cheers
