Okay so I am thinking about doing a EGR delete on my 1996 LC. I am in a emissions testing area but I think I have figured out how to trick the ECU into thinking its still working. My main reasons for wanting to do this are to stop the PO401 code, Help save my wire harness, Help prolong my HG, and I don't really like all that carbon and stuff running though the motor.

So my questions are if I just put a block off plate on the intake port will that stop the flow of hot gas through the egr pipe that is next to the harness? or do I have to block both ports? Also I just use block off plates do Also need to clog vacuum lines or is just the plates enough. Also ive read about people advaning there timing after doing this, do i really need to do that or can i just leave it be.

Thanks Guys

I'd say start here. EGR Temp Sensor Test Plug

There are a couple good links in the first post that goes more in depth too.

Squeeze copper head gasket sealant into the hole before installing blocking plate on head to prevent hot gas entering and improve heat conductivity?
