has anyone used the oem belts? 71850-60013 is the number i came up with. my parts guy says they're still available.

I ordered some from toyota using the part number from my '65 parts book. The number had been superceeded and when I got the seat belts they where similiar to the ones in my 70's FJ40 not at all like the red belt and chrome clasp that is period correct for '62.

So from then on I have used the company Sean showed above. Since they provided the closet OEM match I could find.

Were the Toyota belts Black and have a angled plate to fasten them to the floor instead of a clip? If so maybe I ordered a set for my 70. As far as I know the 70 model was the first year Toyota used black and not red.

Do the red replacement come set up for a clip and how long are you guy getting them?

John they were grey, but I believe they did have the angled plate.

You can see them here in my old '62

Thanks JP doesn't look like anything that was ever used in a pre 79 FJ40. Most the seventies were black. I also believe up until 73 with the bucket seats the they still were a top piece that is all lifted to release instead of button in the center. 73 were retractable.

Here is a direct link to the ones Dean posted in the other thread. http://www.julianos.com/lift_latch_seat_belts.html

Looking at the ones Sean posted the male side does not matches OEM. They also seem to be much shorter on the male side. OEM belts had the latch in the center unless I am mistaken. Has anyone bought a set from the company Dean linked? I think I would buy the center latch rather clip style at teh base. But I also drove my 68 with the OEM lap belts for a number of years before switching to buckets and three point seat belts thirty years ago and remember the old lap belts.

this is what's on the back of my buckles ('65) but not sure if original

I would have to dug them out but I believe my 68 seat belts were red with a black release handle. I removed them thirty years ago when I went to bucket seats with three point seat belts attached to the rollbar. But I know I came across the original belts with in the last year or so.
