squirted, ran out of grease. clank seems not so loud. we'll call that progress till I can squirt some more.

I seldom run out of grease but my rest periods seem longer between application.

Barry was reading and wondering same thing; from what I've heard propane is more rock crawling for angles.
But still I would trade EFI for propane.

I love me some propane but even I wouldn't swap our fuel injection for a propane set-up. What's going on with your 22re that has you ready to swap?

Nothing at all wrong with my 22RE. In fact it runs like a dream. 'Bout the best car I've ever owned. Whoever did the rebuild knew their stuff. I was just researching propane because its cheaper per gallon. I spoke with the guy at gotpropane today and it doesnt really sound like the best option for me. Thanks for all the input.

When the budget is right for it, I may buy something with a 22R as a project and convert it. 4runner is my DD and I can't afford the downtime for the conversion project.

It is hard to beat big oil....I love the idea but 87 availability 24/7 365.

What is the conversion rate on propane? In other words, what would your MPG on 'pane be versus gasoline? Need to factor that in to see if it's really a good decision.

Also, as JBo said, availability would be my other concern with running 'pane.

Just tote a bbq size cylinder and swap it out at a grocery store.

Not a great idea. Those cylinders are set up to dispense vapor. What you need is a cylinder or tank set up to dispense liquid LPG. You could run one upside down in a pinch but its not safe because the pop off valve would be rendered inop.

My experience (one vehicle) is that the mpg is roughly equal IF the truck is set up and tuned to run on propane. Of course, if you tune it to run on propane it won't run at all on pump gas.

Rock crawling on the weekend is one thing but running propane on the street is a whole lot different. Now, if you are set up to fill your own tanks at home for the cost of bulk propane then that is a different story. I still wouldn't pull off a functioning EFI system to switch to propane though...
