Glad this one got bumped to the top.

You are way ahead of me by the looks there Soot! I see I have some reading to do.

Only had a quick look at this last page but I like what I see mate.

Edit. So I just read it all Soot and I am inspired! I look forward to seeing your truck progress.

Lupdog, I would have been further ahead of where I am but stupid here stripped 2 cabs down instead of 1:bang:

Hopefully I will crack into the body again soon, the TIG I was using blew the cooling fan so its out of action until the boys at work replace it, probably should order some sheet steel soon as well, that cab corner isn't going to fix its self.:hillbilly:

Are you tearing into your new 45 yet?

Soot

Yep, the panels are all off minus the tub and DS mudguard. Straightening a few bits as i go. Some panels are really good and clean others are completely shagged. Still trying to get the thing running before I go much further. Finding time to get stuff done is the hard part for me with my two little tackers keeping me out of the shed during daylight hours. Your post about using a drill and wire wheel made me laugh - same goes here, up till all hours trying to work on a truck in the quietest possible way.

I've been looking at those sandblasters too like you got since I read your thread. Looks like the way to go.

Keep up the good work, mate!

Good to here Lupdog, yes with little kids around it leaves little time, but the show must go on, hence the drill and wire wheel, progress is still progress.:hillbilly: For $200 sandblaster you can't go wrong. It does a great job and is quite easy to use and quick. Yeah they are messy but puts some tarps down and sweep it up. Just need a compressor with enough go to run it.

I still haven't ordered and steel for the rear cab corner repair, god I'm a slacker! I made some progress with the passenger door, cut out a rather deep crease and the door did spring back a fair bit but it still needs to come out more.

Also cut out a replacement for it out of another door that was in worse condition. Still some work in it to get it right before I weld it in but it looking like it will work. Also got a cool present off my wife, a panel beating set with 3 hammers and 4 dollies so I'm cracking on with the body work and learning as I go.

I have been trying to learn some sort of panel beating skills on this door, it seems to be very time consuming at the moment but the dints are coming out. I should do some more panel beating material. I have a question for those with straight doors. How flat are the outside skins from one side to the other? The left side door pictured below has a largest measurement of 1mm bow inwards across the door above the rib and around a 2mm to 2.5mm bow under the rib. Should I be aimimg to get this door straighter?

I have done a little panel work to this area, knocked out a bend down where the firewall joins this panel. Still more work to get it back straight as you can see in the bottom pic. These are supposed to be flat and straight right?

When I stripped the cab down I found this liitle spot of evil rust eating my cruiser, so I drilled out the dash pad panel spot welds, worked it off and cut out the bad stuff. The boys at work have finally fixed the welder so I can start welding in the good again.

Awesome wifey of mine bought me a complete pto winch setup. Even came with a tranny cover that wont be going on my build obviously but maybe the next one. It is a pto off the one piece transfer case but after reading a thread on pto gearbox mods I felt much better.

So during the night when I cant make much noise like panel beating or cutting out rust etc, I decided to continue making progesses by starting to pull the transfer case apart and the pto gearbox to see if I could follow Aussie25's trail and make the pto gearbox fit the split transfer case.:hhmm:
