Is it a coincide that vendors are out of one side versus the other?

Perhaps too late for the OP but we did some ordering, some bartering and some changing of things :D

Nope, Toyota is starting to discontinuing both sides so it's going to come down to stock on hand at any given vendor. Keep in mind there are 3 different eras of these lights (same body, different plug) for the US market as well as LH/RH so really there are 6 part numbers.

A little too late for the OP we did some ordering, some bartering and some changing of things and now have current stock on ALL applications (aftermarket Japanese and OEM Toyota): Cruiser Outfitters

Nice work kurt!

Anyone have a source(ie...cheap) for the darn light shields that attach to the lens?

Oddly my 82 is missing them.....and I kinda hate to take them out of my new lamps. (Bought oem lens and gaskets to refreash)

so one could buy the 81550-60191(right side), buy a spare OEM lens(for the left side) and gasket, and make a left side, both would have weep holes because the OEM lens have them.

am I correct.....I think so ;)

I thought someone was making the shields aftermarket? Racer65?

Correct, which is exactly what we are doing for the discontinued lights. We purchased a big bulk of the OE lights and have them pre-converted and ready to ship. We were able to get such a good deal on the lens and gaskets that it kept the price right at OE Toyota retail. So by the time one buys a light at wholesale, the gasket and the lens, we should still be competitive and we can do a discount when ordering pairs :D

LOL.....I just did the math and was going to say the same thing :)

and yes it works, just went out and made the NLA 81550 60192 out of a 81560 60112, I got really confused as I had to many parts open at once, but I just turned the gasket around and used a new lens for the correct side. Oh heck.....I am not really sure what I did.......;)

as I mentioned I bought the NLA right side from Roger, today was the 1st time I compared it to the one I got at my dealer(81560 60112, which oddly is marked on the bag from Toyota as Right rear(RR)

the shinny reflector is the one sourced from Toyota USA, the other which is not shinny is the one I got from Roger(81550-60232, which would be 81550 60192 if in US) it also has a built in deflector/reflector that the US part does not have, they both have the shields in the lens

Great tech John, I've got some of the 81550-60232 & 81560-60152 (non-US) ones here, I haven't had a minute to compare the drains, plug wiring, etc. Might be as simple as the stamping on the lens, USDOT vs something different?

that(CCOT) is an aftermarket part(A is for aftermarket), price is for 1 light, for the just a few more $ you can get a PAIR from Kurt

to read a OEM CCOT part #, take the 1st digit from the 1st 5 #, and swap it with the 1st of the last 5........so CCOT OEM part # 61550-80192, is really 81550 60192....and so on and so on. Some of the old scans(on CCOT) and part # actually came from me years and years ago

Now you tell me o_O

With Cruiser Outfitter out-of-stock on LEFT, Cool Cruiser has LEFT (A81560-60192) for $69.71 plus shipping

Kurt, I'm almost positive that if you check the 60232 you'll find the SAE/DOT markings on the lens. Not being next to a set right now it's what I seem to remember.

Interesting, I didn't get a chance yesterday. I'm super curious why the 2 different 12V offerings. Could be as simple as wattage or bulbs or something to that effect.

I'll wander back to my mess and see what I see on lens.. Roger did mention that if I looked close (because I am a nut) I may find some differences between US and the general market spec lights.

Got another coming from my toyota dealer but it's coming out of boston......which tells me they are low, my parts are always either in Portland or CA....just 1-2 days away. Already had new lens and gaskets or I just would have got from kurt.

I feel like Tuco in the Good Bad and Ugly when he is swapping all the gun parts to make his gun.....

One of my favorite movie lines ever! "When you come to kill a man, don't talk, shoot!"

My Toyota parts are sourced out of the Florida. Of course, it takes a week to get to me even being five miles away from the dealer.

So my phone camera sucks but here is the 60232 showing the SAE/DOT (If you can see it). Trust me, it's there.

So bulb wattages are different between a 81550-60232 (21W & 21/5W) and say a US Spec 81550-60192 (23W & 23/8W). The lenses have a different OE number (81551-26040 & 81551-60180 respectively) however both supersede to the 81551-35061.

So, it really could have come down to USDOT standards on bulb brightness or similar.

This is the difference in lenses, the gasket is different as well.

Those weepholes are important. The PO of my '75 reversed the lenses and had them upside down. Well, we have had some rain this winter in CA and while the truck was outside of TLC 4x4 waiting for it's repairs the right light housing filled with water. Amazingly, the lights still worked, but when I opening it up, the water poured out and everything was rusted solid. Off to the internet to get a replacement! Glad I ordered under the wire!

This is turning into some really good tech and it's been fun...and I habe learned much

This what we gotta do if we want to be able to source parts now or in the future.

Agreed, if holes are present, they need to be on the bottom.

No wire anymore... we have good stock (and growing) of the OEM Toyota options and we were able to generate some of our Japanese aftermarket options too :D
