Hey y’all!

Tried googling, but kept getting shunted around in circles.

I have converted my front diff to ballast, by shearing off both CV’s flush at the output. I will need to open up the diff to even extract them now.

But, I want to (have to) pull front drive shaft to keep my diff still healthy, as it lost some go go juice during this process.

I can drive around all day with CDL, so why should I be concerned, or should I be, about the coupler overheating? There is no longer a front input / load.

wow. that is absolutely insane that BOTH CVs sheard off. I have never seen anything like it. usually the front diff will break before the CVs will
To answer your question, i think you can drive around with the CDL locked and no front driveshaft as long as you want with no adverse affects.

I thought so too, as there is no extra force at the coupler now.

It was one bounce, and click.

Along Hell’s revenge, with the front lock on.

I have named this maneuver the ‘Captain Dan’ for the double amputation.

Were they, OEM FDS (AKA: CV's)?

Contamination and loss of lube, is a concern. If forward propeller shaft turning, front diff.

I use the sliding action, of inner CV. To pop out FDS, all the time. By compressing inner CV, and then with a fast hard pull of FDS. I jerk FDS out. The FDS acts much like a slide hammer.

Basically the reserves of this action, seen on install of FDS in this video I did.

Perhaps drilling and taping into remaining inner axle. Or if welder, attach a puller somehow. Then attached a slide hammer/puller. Pop them out. May be easier.
Use the biggest/heaviest slide hammer you can find.
