Drive Belts for my Honduran HJ60 (1984 12v 2H w/AC) (1 Viewer)

My belts are old. I popped the p/s belt on my last trip, and it's been running on a used spare ever since.

I'm having a really hard time finding parts that will fit here in the states. I haven't bought a set of belts in 5 years so my notes are old. From what I can tell there are about 3 major variations on belt configuration. 1980-1984 HJ60, 1985+ HJ60, and the HJ75 variants. There are probably others depending on a/c.

I need the belts for my '84 Honduran HJ60 w/12v electrical and factory AC.

Here's a summary of what I know and what I've tried.

Power Steering:

• I have previously used Bando #5340 (17x835mm), but I can't find one locally.
• @beno looked up my frame number and came up with 90916-02101. I tried it but it was too short to fit over the pulleys. I know new belts can be tight but that was just not going on.

Alternator:

• I have previously used Bando 5425 (17x1050mm) and NAPA 25-22434 (15x1117mm). I couldn't find the Bando and NAPA gave me a different belt this time that didn't fit.
  
• @beno sent me a 99343-11065, which was too short. I can't find specs online but when I get a chance I will measure it and update this post.
• I have a friend with a 24v Canadian HJ60 whose got the 99343-11095 installed. Not sure on dimensions or applicability to my truck, but from photos the configuration looks the same.

A/C:

• I've previously used a Bando #3540 (13x1350mm) and NAPA 25-9550 (13x1405mm). I couldn't find the Bando and NAPA gave me a different belt this time that didn't fit.
  
• Fortunately, @beno sent me a Bando #3545 (13x1360mm) which did fit.

I still need a power steering belt & an alternator belt at a minimum, and if I can find a good source I'll grab a second set of new spares.

Today I called Spector in California. They have 4 different drive belt sets for the 2H.

• 054-014LH-KIT - fits 8/80-4/82 HJ60 DIESEL
  
• 054-014LI-KIT - fits 4/82-10/85 HJ60 DIESEL 2H & 12HT
  
• 054-014LJ-KIT - fits 10/85-- HJ60 DIESEL 2H & 12HT
  
• 054-014LM-KIT - fits 11/84-10/85 HJ75 DIESEL
• 054-014LN-KIT - fits 10/85--HJ75 DIESEL

Mine should be a 054-014LI-KIT, but they can't verify the individual Toyota part numbers over the phone. They suggested I order and return what I don't need. Given that @beno got the wrong belts when going by the book, I wonder if I might have 1985+ parts and need belts from that kit instead. Not sure yet if I'll go that route but if I do I'll report back.

I have one more set of belts ordered at NAPA. We searched through the computer using belt dimensions I had written down to find belts that are close in size. I hope to get them tomorrow and see if they fit ...

Have you tried removing one of your belts and taking it into a local parts place so they can do a physical comparison with their range of belts to find a suitable match?

Yeah, the catch is they can't look up belts by size, so we were pulling them off the shelf and crawling through the computer to find ones that fit. They ordered some, which I'll go pick up today. If they fit, I'll update this part #s thread with what I find.

Does anybody know what the belt configurations look like for all the HJ6x pre and post 1985, and HJ7x 2H variations?

I'm wondering if I could visually identify my belt configuration and see if it varies from what the frame # indicates it would be.

Small update on belts ... Napa completely failed to come through with a p/s belt. They kept ordering random belts that weren't even close to the right size.

The belts from @beno are at Valley Hybrids along with my laundry list of pre-trip repairs. I'll report back with the working combo (and then probably buy some spares to save future me some hassle).

FWIW the 24V CDM HJ60 is an '86, so I guess maybe we're on the wrong sides of that 1984 cutoff for comparison purposes? I wonder what changed, the crankshaft pulley?

In any case, I can tell you that getting any of the new belts on was a hell of a struggle.

Unfortunately, @orangefj45 's guys were not able to get the 90916-02101 power steering belt or 99343-11065 alternator belts from @beno on either. At least now I know it's not just me. They ended up using NAPA parts. As soon as I get done trying to figure out why my wipers just stopped, I'll grab the part numbers and post them up here.

Here's what I've found works.

Power Steering:

• The Toyota 90916-02101 does not fit my 2H.

Alternator:

• I have previously used Bando 5425 (17x1050mm) and NAPA 25-22434 (15x1117mm).
• I currently have a new NAPA 25-22434, as this one is still available.
• The Toyota 99343-11065 does not fit my 2H.

A/C:

• I currently have a Bando #3545 (13x1360mm) which does fit, and a spare NAPA 25-9550 as these are also still available.

I never got a chance to try the belts from Spector.

Glad you solved it, I also have some bels that just dont fit and are to tight (may 1985 HJ60, no airco, or airco removed...?)
And finding the right size is far easier with the numbers on the current working belt.

I see u tried 02101 but it does not fit, is the belt tensioner pulley fine?
