If you are in San Antonio I would like to see how it is done. I may be able to hand you a wrench and tell you what you are doing wrong according to the directions too :)

Before I order I just want to make sure that the land cruiser part will fit the LX470

I guess I can echo everyone else here and say definitely skip the Detroit Axle rack. I bought one too a few months back and was very unhappy with the quality. I didn't even get as far as threading the lock nut on for the tie rod ends - the threads were so trash i put it back in the box and sent it back to amazon.

Got an oem rack off OEMpartsource.com for $488.80 +ship.

Looking at both Toyota and Lexus websites the part number for 01 LX and 01 LC are the same. 44250-60050 with out outer tre. Same list price too. Be sure to order new outer TRE.

For those onlookers with later model years LX (I think 2003+ LX) has its own exclusive part due to VGRS. Also for LC, 98-2002 is a different part than 2003-2007.

Perfect! exactly what I was wanting to know!

Does Norwalk have an online parts catalog with cheaper prices? I called the parts desk at the dealership and was quoted $729

1998-2002 Toyota Land Cruiser Steering Gear 44250-60050 | toyotaparts-

I buy big items from them and pick them up. It allows me to inspect the parts first, as toyotas packing is poor sometimes. It allows saves on shipping the heavy stuff. That said, for other things I order out of state, as the savings in sales tax off sets shipping and it comes to my door. You just need to plan ahead

That seems correct to me, that we've 3 PN's for the 100 series lineup in USA models. Good work!

A full wheel bearing kit with new bearings and races is not expensive from @cruiseroutfit I'd just replace them since you can't know the full history.

OEM Racks can be had for closer to $550 online. I won't chime in on the detroit axle one. I will wait on others' opinions. But in general, when in doubt OEM is the way to go.
From my multiple ridiculously bad experiences with Detroit Axle, do NOT buy any of their crap. They sent me one badly remaned axle, one that was from a Tacoma in an LC box, and one that was someone else's greasy return. Then, when I told them no more, just give me my money back, they sent a 4th one I specifically told them not to send.

Anyone try a Napa or Oreilly premium one? I’m wondering the difference between the 03 Land Cruiser and LX470 as Toyota shows a different part number and aftermarket the same.

Glad you chimed in! I don’t think I would handle getting the run around like that too well

You may want to pick up this along with your new rack if it isn't already on your parts list.
