How did this end up on page eight?

This topic flys above most of the 80's crowd...

I'm happy to say tho that they are slowly getting there as they become more popular as dedicated trail rigs for some.

Compared to what? The output shafts are pretty stout. I have never seen one sheared or damaged.
compared to other xfer cases? Most people don't have a lot of HP or gearing behind the hf2av...

So, first gear times marlin gear times black box times R&P for me equals 2.804 x 3.01 x 2.72 x 5.29=121.44?!!! Wow. I want one...yesterday.

It's lower than that isn't it? Marlin gears give you 3.116:1. I had made a little chart the other day just, similar to what somebody else did above

It's rediculouslay low and brings the ability to creep through technical rock gardens and skinny ravines lined w trees with gigantic amounts of sheet metal and glass 'safely'.

My 4door taco/caper shell was 2.28/4.696/5.29/2.84 and 2.3(tc) and I snuck thru stuff I had no business in unscathed(notet the trees in the background in this pic). if anyone has been to Barrett lake trail in an 80, or any rig, they can relate. The big dent in the door is letting my kids drive on fordyce, I swear:flipoff2:

Was talking to my buddy about this case. He said it's gonna be amazing for the 80. He typically only runs the 4.7 case on his Tacoma and if he doubles it he said it's stupid low (something like 10:1). This is his truck on the Soup Bowl, front unlocked, 4.7 case only. The 80 would be running even lower than this at 6.77

I do have a concern - most people with doublers and 10:1 ratios are running manual transmissions... I suspect we're going to need to drop the AT in neutral every time we need to stop...

The problem with this, as it was with Mark's low gear case, will be space with the gas tank. Room is limited. Moving or cutting the gas tank will be required (or making another gas tank work).

That said, for all of the "hardcore" guys out there, this will be quite nice.

I had 700r to LC 3 spd case with 203 doubler and 4.56 gears in my old 60. Even had 4 wheel disc breaks and I also had to go to neural to stop when I was in low low. I think I figured my ratio was 70 to 1. But holy crap awesome

I must be just the opposite. Suzuki, 92:1 with a 3spd auto and never had a shortage of braking power with 4 wheel discs.
