Do I need A DC front driveshaft?

If you live in a snowy area, part time might not be the best option. Since you'd be using 4wd high when it snows, you'd still be suffering the vibration. You'd have to have your hubs unlocked in order to escape it.

That said, I am part time and think it's great. Slight improvement in fuel economy, but more importantly it's going to drastically cut down on the amount of front-end maintenance that's needed. Birfs, axle seals, all the bearings in the front axle, U-joint's ect. are going to last much longer.

your reasoning for going part time is flawed.

there is a multitude of solutions for every aspect of modifying our suspensions. one needs to drill down to the underlying issue that people are having and to understand the root cause. Not all parts are created equal and just because one part doesn't work well doesn't mean a similar one also shares the problem. The mass amount of posts on here are concerning problems. A good place to start is to identify those products that aren't included in those posts. Those products likely work just fine.
Yes it is corect there is multitude of solutions like you said something works for someone but not for other person to find my solution I must experiment but why waste money when the part time solved all my deive line problems in snow so what i can putt up with bit vibration for day or rwo and i go back to 2wd when snow is removed
 
Thanks for all the replies. The plates I got were for a 4"-6" lift. My E-mail was hacked and apparently G00gle takes 3-5 buisness days to remedy (2 factor on primary, but not secondary account :bang: ). But thats another story. Otherwise I would tell you what plates I have as most I found were for shorter lifts. I recall them being from Dobson via Amazon though.

  • Truck is fully aligned and drives great otherwise
  • I live in snow and would rather leave the AWD
  • Lowering would involve selling all springs and replacing, and possibly shocks, then realignment. Quite a hassle, and the truck looks and drives well as is, and MAY still have problem.
Going to pull FDS and see if the problem is resolved, It is not THAT bad, but noise = wear so if that solves it I will order the DC shaft.

FWIW, this is my cheap hobby. Just not my favorite and I do debate selling the rig weekly as I don't get to use it as much as I like. But it sure is fun when I do
 
I have 4.5 lift. To correct, driveline vibration and caster issues, I used the correction bushings (CRAP). The solved nothing and lasted about a year. After that I got the MAN-A-FRE drop brackets. All vibration and caster issues gone.

I actually had these drop brackets and removed them (still have them). It sounds REAL stupid but I did not like the look, they NEVER got hung up as some claim they do. I corrected castor at the axle with plates now. The suspension has been raised a little and aligned since I did this, I could reinstall these, remove plates, and realign to see if that solves the problem, but that's a solid days work with no guaranteed improvement. TO MANY OPTIONS

Because you are further modifying your truck to make up for a problem generated by a previous mod that you did on your truck. This can be an endless saga for some to no real end. And you admit you still have drive line vibrations but only during certain times which I guess is kind of a win.

My main point was that the generalization that all these problems could be expected based on the posts that were found on MUD is flawed. Those posts are of the problems from using some products and not representative of all the products available due to the fact that problems are more likely posted than successful installs. And drawing a conclusion based on only the products that perform poorly is not a winning practice that leads to the best possible outcome.

i have 0 vibration now it drives way better than when everything was oem

Did this a shot in the dark, but did you ever I still a DC drive shaft?

I’m having the same issues as you with the off accelerator noise.
