One of the advantages of the GROM Vline Dash display units is because it is essentially an android tablet I can run OBD Fusion on my OEM display when I want (not very often)

One question I had was where did you find A/T temp....I have Veepeak and OBD fusion and the menu is confusing and there are LOTS of PIDS.
But anything with A/T Temp in the name reads as zero....

I think I need to play with it more but didn't know if there was a step I was missing

Good point, i was thinking the same thing with "DVD" in motion enabled and HDMI input for OEM on screen view.

I guess if OBD fusion had a carplay app that would also be native on screen but less fiddly.

This is one of the main reason i would go with GROM.

I don't think "in motion" matters with GROM. I assume you are suggesting that you won't be able to see the android screen because the nanny sensors would keep the screen from displaying the android "desktop". GROM hijacks the video path between the OEM AV system and the screen, so it can display whatever it wants. That's sort of it's magic. When you put the truck in "Aux" mode, it stops the video feed from the AV system and injects the Video from it's Android installation. When you hit the "Maps" or whatever OEM button, the GROM switches back to allowing the OEM feed.

Do the adapters listed here require pairing?
Im looking at this guy: Amazon product ASIN B073XKQQQW
If indeed BLE is app compatible with OBD fusion thats what i will order.
Also has 10% off.

EDIT: @Sandroad do you need to actively pair with BT or does the app pick up the background BLE communication?
You do NOT pair it. Just open OBD Fusion and enable "Bluetooth LE" as the communication method.

The only thing you'd use the pairing menu in your phone for would be to confirm the adapter is visible. But if you pair it in your phone, it won't connect to OBD Fusion

I already had the Toyota PIDs installed, but after loading the dashboard there were 4-5 PIDs that weren't reporting. I ended up selecting each monitor that wasn't working and reselecting the same PID from the menu of available PIDs and then they started working fine. A little annoying but not too bad.
I got a new iPad which I restored from my old backup, and had to do the same thing to each gauge. If I only have to do it each upgrade it’s not such a big deal I guess.

So i finally messed with this a bit more today. I loaded it a while back but hadn't actually run it on my phone while driving.

The layout @TeCKis300 posted works well on a IPhone 11 Pro Max in portrait mode. Not so great in landscape, I'm not even sure if that aspect is customizable though.

(After I did all that clicking, I found that in the menu of the dashboard there is a "calibrate sensors" button. I'm not sure if that would have fixed my issue, but I would try that first before "replacing" all the PIDs)

For the TC Lockup monitor, how do you modify the "horse shoe" part of that monitor? Or is that built in to that monitor for the gear display? I haven't watched it while driving enough to verify if it is working on mine and could not seem to find a place to click to select that PID.

Good to know the layout translates. Agreed it doesn't work well in landscape and it's meant for portrait.

The horseshoe display needs to initialized just as the other gauges by re-selecting the PID. Sorry if it wasn't intuitive but the lockup gauge is a larger gauge that is stacked behind/under the gear display gauge. Possibly need to temporarily move over the gear display gauge to get at and re-initialize the lockup PID.

I’m behind on the CarPlay kits, thanks. Grom is indeed just an android host for CarPlay so that would be cool (although I really don’t want to be in the android mode). One of the kits has an hdmi input as well right?

What I was talking about doing though was a poor man’s grom. HDMI input from the truck into the main display could mirror phone to nav without any mod. Just enabling “dvd” in motion hack, which I neither remember what years it works for or how to do.

I don’t want to fully violate my warranty yet lol. But eventually putting in CarPlay etc.

Just ordered the BLE Veepeak.
Trying out the today delivery for $2.99
wow Amazon ftw geez

Also forgot to ask when we got hdmi over composite was it? You could always do a analog conversion.

I need to figure out how to enable the in motion bypass for my truck. Is it even possible on 2017? Anyone want to spare me a search?

I don't think any of the AV inputs affect the NAV screen. They only put video on the RES. I assume the HDMI came with the 2016 refresh and 08-15 all have analog input. I have a analog to HDMI converter so i can hook a Chromecast to the RES. I guess I could be wrong on the AV input, as far as getting it on the NAV screen. I've never actually tried.

I know it was possible on the 100 with factory dvd changer. But I guess either way you could throw the OBD onto the rear screens? Can’t you watch a movie in the 200 from the front? I’ve never tried it on my 570. No kids it’s useless for me.

You can if you're in park.

I’m just contemplating creative I mean ghetto solutions lol.

This is portrait concept but could be cool.

BOYO Vision VTHUDpro VTHUDpro Head-Up Display for Cars, Trucks, and Vans Amazon product ASIN B089CQZLW5
Also there are reflective HUD films too. Stick a cheap phone or tablet to the dash and it may work albeit at night maybe lol.

You can watch a DVD played by the In dash dvd system on front screen in Park, but as far as I know you can’t play video from the RES AV input on the front screen. You can definitely push the audio from the AV input through the main system, but I don’t believe the video goes with that.

Good point. There is no instance where one would be in the rear and the car not being driven I guess and that video relay doesn’t exist. Makes sense. If the dash dvd output is analog this would be an easy tap. But I digress. The aftermarket harnessed CarPlay kits do all this with way more flexibility. Do they provide harness diagrams ?

Ha.. the way iPhone software moves things around, these steps will be valid for about 7 and a half hours…j/k sort of. I ended up just letting it use iCloud. Wasn’t sure why it was forcing you to do things in iTunes. With iCloud it was normal go to this folder and click type file management.

I saved the link above to my phone strait through phone browser. Then I did an export settings to iCloud from the OBD Fusion app (with only dashboard settings). This created the folder you need on iCloud Drive (sure you could do this manually). Then using “files” app navigate to the iCloud directory “OBD Fusion” where there is a subdirectory called “export” and create a new directory called “import”. Then copy the file saved from this thread to that new “import”folder and do the import settings as listed above.

We will see how long either of these instruction sets are relevant.
For the life of me I cannot get a new, imported, dashboard to show up. I can import it and it give me the successfully imported message then I go to dashboard and it’s blank/empty. I select the dashboard on “setting to import” and clear and overwrite existing dashboards on the following screen. What gives?

TIA

Completely deleted app from my phone and re-downloaded it. Still having the same problem. I can find the saved Dashboards and import them but then nothing shows.

Has anyone experienced this?

I followed the iPhone/iCloud Drive instructions you quoted above and it worked no issues. I did not check the "Clear Existing Dashboards" box however, just the "Overwrite", not sure if that makes a difference for your problem. This added the imported dashboard and kept all the pre-existing ones as well.

I’d like to put a true/false for torque converter lock up. Has anyone done this?

Do you mean something different than what @TeCKis300 put on the dashboard he uploaded? He used a radial gauge that had a range from 0-1. So, when the lockup converter is on, the gauge is completely full. That seems to be as close to a true/false as you can make it. I just did a quick clicking through the buttons for adding another gauge and I don't see anything that's like an on/off light, which is what I assume you'd be looking for.

Ah, I haven’t tried out @TeCKis300 dashboard. I started with @linuxgod (I think) and kind of modified from there.
I got the little 1/0 but really want a red light green light.

I dug around a little but never found obd fusion script language reference.
