I have read the entire thread and see that there are a handful of 8 speed transmission folks with erroneous transmission readings. I am experiencing the same and am wondering if anyone found the fix. I have a 2021, downloaded the appropriate PID pack and the transmission temps are off. I’ve towed many of miles with my previous 2015 and knew what temps should be.
As previously mentioned, the TC TEMP starts at -20 degrees, not ambient. The pan temp seems to stay between 130 and 150 degrees at operating temp. I would think it would hover around the coolant temp as my 2015 did.
Is there a fix to this? Could the sensors be bad on the truck? Others seem to be seeing the same, what was the fix?

No known fix so far. I’ve given up on it.

Mine starts at -40* and I thought it never worked or moved so I deleted it, but I did fix this years back thanks to this thread. Try deleting that PID (A/T temp 3) and recreating it. It was that or an app update/delete re-install that fixed it for me on my '18. The dashboard got all wonky and had to be revamped after the update, but can confirm it works. Have seen it +~50* above pan temp and then next time I look well below. Not always what you think it would be, but it does work.

Thanks for this. I changed my inputs and will check on the next roadtrip. Just added Transfer case instead of A/T Temp 3.
Curious… How did you know this? I’ve had no luck finding any manual or guide. Lots of hunting, trial, and error.
Just from reading on these forums. It seems like it’s based in the fact that A/T Temp 1 is relatively stable from the sensor being near the pan while A/T Temp 3 fluctuates from fluid reaching the torque converter.

Yep. Can confirm A/T Temp 1 is the way to go. Labeled in my dashboard as Trans Temp. This is in the garage at start up (garage was 73 degrees)

And this was after about 8 minutes of driving - to fill up with gas of course!

Thank you for that. I'll keep trying. Can you or anyone tell me what the normal operating pan temp range is on the 8 speed? If what I am seeing is correct, it runs quite a bit cooler than the 6 speed in my older 15. I'm seeing 130s running around and 150s towing. The 6 speed would maintain temps around the engine temp range (190s.)

Oh there are a few rabbit-holes here on transmission temps. A good one linked below. So the TL;dr answer seems to be for our 2016+ that temps in the 190-230 is not concerning. Not towing, light load, I commonly run 140 on the highway in cool temps, in the 150-160 range in the summer (102 intake temps). Based on more than just the thread below, in the 270-304 range, this seems to be the warning zone (where I have added orange in my "gauge"). Above 304, IIRC (without checking the service manual), the A/T light will come on - and I have the red zone on my gauge. It goes off again at 270 (again, IIRC).

On the 6 speed I used to run 195F all day when stock. Regeared and on 35s I’m closer to 212F or a bit higher. Temps routine get to 230-235F when the TC unlocks. So yes, the Toyota transmissions seem to be speced to run that hot

So. It looks like your assumption is correct. Had the tires rotated, and all the IDs are in the same <edit> spot they were before. I may have time in the next week or so to fiddle around more. This snapshot crudely adds the Registered ID 1 Code. Wondering if that’s the TPMS ID… maybe a Mudder with more knowledge on this can weigh in?

For posterity. Finally had time to move things around on this dashboard … And yes I know, they’re a little low. 66 degrees is frigid in these parts, lol.

It is such a pain to move things around on the dashboard on the iPhone… massive hassle.

Yeah. This. I think it took 30 minutes. I wasn’t driving so I had nothing else to do.

Hey @Sajan have u done any mods with Launch? Need to find some time to change some annoying "features".

no mods yet. when i was getting a tune done, the guy used techstream to turn off the seatbelt chimes.

I'll see if the steps I used for the P's will work on Launch for my 2021 LC200. I noticed the "overtaking" indicator tap doesn't seem present. Is that not available on the 200s? Have a weekend - we're due to hit -46F

If you're talking about a single tap on the stalk to get 3-4 flashes of the turn signals, I don't think 200s ever got that, although I can't figure out why. Diode Dynamics has a swap-out flasher module called SmartTap that adds this feature (plus supports LED bulbs), but only works up to 2015 models. I have one and I use it all the time, super handy. Highly recommended.

Precisely, very useful though 3 blinks is for some folks a wee bit fast so I set mine to 5. Shame, would have been nice... Thanks for clarifying

LX 16+ definitely has it and has the adjustability
Interesting, maybe it's in the LC after all in the later years? Buried in the Techstream settings?

It's a shame you can't put the SmartTap in later years. I wish I could put one in my Tacoma but the DRLs block it from working.

I had set it up on Launch for the 992 and Macan, I'll look when I have some time on the CRreader Elite if I can get the same code to work though I doubt it from what has been mentioned. Shame a simple but very useful option. I don't have TechStream but if anyone finds it for the LC200 please post. TIA
