Luckily the powder coater says he can fix it by building up the welds on the corner and heating the flat plate where the wing meets up with the center section of the bumper for only $50 extra. We will see. I have a question about the powder coating. @benc recommended a zinc based primer but my coater says he normally uses a red oxide based powder coat primer from TCI coatings (so it's not a rattle can primer). Is Zinc Primer superior to Red Oxide Primer?

Is the accessory tray for the second swingout 16x24" interior dimensions or exterior dimensions? Does anyone have a picture of it up close from a few different angles?

That is the interior, the exterior is about 23 3/4" the 16" is open in the front so something larger than 16" would fit.

@benc any update on the Jerry can holder?

Let me start by saying Ben is such a great person to work with...he did last minute modifications and kept the entire install/fab to the two days I had while in Grass Valley. After driving a total of 7k miles (3500 with new Dissent equipment) I can say I'm very pleased with the work Ben did. No rattles, and no eye sores that stick out with design....Instead of changing the foot on my hi-lift Ben made a new tray to fit my wider foot....I also added a chainsaw holder to the side of the right swing out arm with capability to hold 3 gallons of gas under the tray (rotopax not pictured.).
Only issue we had was with the third skid plate not having clearance with my Borla exhaust...Ben swapped in one of the earlier prototypes with no added gussets on the inside so it's a bit less capable on deflection resistance but the others have the added strength so hopefully I don't pin the last plate...worst case it will bend.

Great experience for the entire family and we saw so much of the country - 16 states....Me, my wife, and two boys 2 and 4. 2018 - epic...now we're planning some camping trips to test out the new gear.

Hello Wickedpickle, Did you powder coat your front and rear bumper ends? If so, what powder coat did you use? I have a diamond white 05 LX470 and thinking of doing the same. Currently waiting for Ben to complete mine:)

@gungriffin here’s the setup with the hi lift. Tire needs to be straight up to fit the jack. It’s still all pretty tucked up into the back of the truck. Doesn’t feel like there’s a great expanse of space between the tire and the rear hatch.

Oh - and if you don’t have one of these rubber handle spacers, you might consider it. The handle rattles around pretty good (thus my bungee you see in the pics)

CoGerding, What lights did you use to light up the area under your rocker panels/ rock sliders? Did you use the existing LX wiring from the factory steps you removed?

Trailguy:

I had Ben powder coat and just said white...I rattle can painted my rocker panels and all of it seems to match...I wouldn't get too hung up on the white seems to be forgiving. I notice a lot of things most don't so if it was visually off I'd tell you. Mine are usually covered with GA clay anyway.;)

@benc any plans for a bracket to mount a aftermarket rear backup camera onto? Looking at a pioneer nex 7100 with their included backup camera and want to be able to mount it.

I have the same question. My current camera is mounted in the stock location on the hatch. I'm wondering if the new double swing bumpers for Ben is making for me, will block the view and require the to relocate the camera?

I can tell you that the back up camera will for sure be blocked. the best place would be a cut out in the center metal bracket that the spare sits on....If Ben can came up with something there that would solve the issue. If I plan to add a camera for the rear again I'll work something out for that location. Right now I've resorted to side mirrors when I reverse.

I saw a Slee double rear bumper with the camera mounted where the center hub is for the spare tire. Very clean looking set up. I've already spliced my new rear camera once, I can always re-do it again.

I know some have had questions about towing. After doing the installation I feel super.confident this bumper is just as strong as stock. Here's my proof...

The bumper is definitely strong . With the dissent bumper I've towed a minivan, Jeep Cherokee, Ford F150, and about 6,500 lbs of sod .
On an unrelated note, does anyone know what kind of spray paint they use to touch up the Evo Gray? I can't seem to find a match at Home Depot

I am working on the relocation of my license plate light and my back up camera. I have an aftermarket camera which works with the Seicane stereo. Looks like i’ll Drilling into the spare tire holder as well as next to the drivers side swing gate bumper stop.

I wouldn't drill into the bump stop if you plan to run cable there. It will get pinched. I just followed the license plate light wire along the gas strut and down under the bumper between bumper and body. I protected the wires with split loom. Just my two cents.

Can I ask something,

This a 285?

And what’s this opening for?

Beautiful beautiful work, makes me wish I made more money!

That little hole locks in the giant nut for the arm and allows you to slide a flat head screwdriver to keep it from spinning. It was very thoughtful of Ben to put that there definitively makes things easier but still looks nice.
