After i bought my 80 series, i figured out i had an after market alarm in it, and a buddy who had just bought a jeep(i kno right?) found a complete "kit" to install a r3000 alarm in a landcruiser on e-bay, while looking for a fob for his jeep.
Well, the "kit" auction had already ended but had not sold and with an ended search i found the seller and was able to purchase and install the "kit".
it came with the Lexus branded fobs BAB237131-032 and except for occasionally unlocking after i lock the vehicle(come back and rig is unlocked even though i had several witnesses who heard it beep as we walked away, yet upon trying to "unlock" it proceeded to "lock" itself as if i hadnt done it previously)

that, and most of the time the piezo beeper does not work anymore when locking/unlocking, and the poor distance for the fob to actuate the alarm is its only drawbacks.

i still have the install instructions from that kit, if anyone needs a copy.

Ok, A good friend of mine has a '97 LX450. She doesn't know a ton about cars, so she asked my help. She lost the original key fob. Got a replacement one from ebay, FCC ID # BAB237131-031, part no. 08191-60820. We put a fresh battery in it, and tried to program it today. I found the grey box under the driver's seat, see the green button on the side. I put the master key in the ignition, turned it to "on", then pushed the green button. Nothing. Pushed it again (with a ball point pen) still nothing. Finally got it to chirp 3 times, then pushed the top button on the key fob, but nothing happened....From the instructions, it sounds like it's supposed to cycle through all the locks, then maybe chirp a few times to confirm programing....

There are a couple other issues. The security LED/signal on the dash appears to be missing the LED light, so no flashing to confirm program mode. And the green reset button seems "funny" you have to play with it a few times to get it activate.....

Any suggestions? Does anyone have a photo of the box under the driver's seat so I can confirm if this is original equipment or not?

Thanks!

On my lx450 the FCC ID number ends in 032. You might have the wrong remote.

My 1996 LX450 remote says part number:

Part No 08191-60820
FCC ID: BAB237131-032
Made in Japan

Those look just like this one from FeeBay:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-Toyota-...&fits=Model:LX450&hash=item2ec930195f&vxp=mtr

For $16 and free shipping they seems worth a try--the seller has great feedback, they offer a 30 day return policy and a 6 mo. warranty. Has anyone else tried one of these?

Anyone tried this one from EMS? : http://www.emspowered.com/storefron...nfo&cPath=61_119_120_138_315&products_id=1158

It apparently has 20% better range which would be nice...

I have used these for about 1 year so far, one has broken but the other is still going. Placed another order for two more a few days back. Cheaply built but cheap as well, you get what you pay for.

This thread has sparked my interest. My 96 came with no key fobs and I have found that it has a full alarm system installed that was manufactured by Rostra. The FCC ID is JDRAPSR but I can't find a remote anywhere matching the ID. I did find that Rostra provided alarms as an OEM supplier back in the day so I would assume my truck got one of these installed at the port. I have also found similar vintage Camry's with the same alarm. I did take a look and do not have any other alarm modules under the seat or dash and this looks like a very pro install. I am going to have to call Rostra for a remote unless anyone has any ideas or more info on what I have?

Didn't read all the posts mentioned but I went to a lock smith and got a single button fob that worked with the system for about 50. Much easier to swallow than the dealer price for OEM!

CruisinEveryDay - I have the ones off of Ebay and the range sucks just like the OEM had. No improvement in range that I could tell.

The range issue is not the fob, but the limited antenna the stock alarm came with.
To extend the range to acceptable distance, cut the antenna wire under the driver seat, connect a long wire and stuff it to driver pillar.
Make the wire long enough to go from the alarm module, under the carpet and up to the driver pillar all the way up the the upper safety belt buckle.

Search the form, there is a port specifically for the range problem with pictures

Well, I just wanted to update. I did get the $16 remote, and it works great! I also was able to get the factory one I had working--I think the LED light not being visible was hindering me being able to program it.....

Anyway, for $16 it's nice to have a replacement, plus, with fresh batteries in both of them the aftermarket one has at least a 15' range advantage over the OEM one. The seller offers a 6 mo. warranty, so we'll see how it holds up....

So what does the original one look like. Oem black looks to be like the one everyone is using.

Have used this remote, not from this guy but that remote can be programmed to just about any fcc Id and mhz you need. The company I used, yourkeylessremote.com, had my fcc Id in their programmer and sent me one. It works great for my 94 port installed rostra system. Unlocks from a good 150ft away.

I've read through several of the key fob threads, but most with links to remotes are many years old, so I thought I'd ask the question about a current listing (as of this date in 2018).

Here's the listing I was thinking about purchasing from for my newly acquired 96 LX450 - New Replacement Keyless Entry Remote Key Fob for Toyota Black BAB237131-022 607789772250 | eBay

From what I've read, the -022 suffix only works with Black remotes. This listing specifies Black so is it a relatively safe assumption that this will work for my LX?
