Put a little oil in the cylinders and test again. If it improves a bunch then it's the rings if not then it in the valves. Would be easier to have the head rebuild than the bottom end. If it is in the head there are other things to try before pulling the head like checking the valve adjustment.

They bounced to 200 wet.:crybaby:

you could do a backyard rering. pull the head pop out the pistons and gitr done.

sorry to hear bro but half the fun of these old machines is workin on em. it would've been nice to enjoy it a bit more before you had to dig in though. :(

Just slap a small block in there!:steer:

That sucks man...its a road Im going to have to travel one day soon too Im sure. Look on the bright side...your kids will be able to drive a sweet cruiser someday!!!:grinpimp: No Im sure you will have this puppy purring soon!!!

I'll be interested to see what you have in there. I'm glad I rebuilt mine....busted rings and all:D

Something is curios with that engine, as I remember it works fine before restoration.
In my opinion it could`t get this damage during "sleeping" in the garage, there must be another reason for that.
Cheers

I agree if it ran fine before sitting you could have something stuck. I would run it and suck some seafoam in through a vacuum port and let it really clean out the engine. You could have some sticky rings and it might loosen them up. Only cost a few dollars for a jar and while chances are slim it will fix it slim is better then none.

hope it's not sand stuck in there.

X2 on the seafoam, love that stuff. Berrymans has a product I think it's their B12 that can be added to the oil, run for a short time and then do an oil change. Read the can it'll walk you through it. It's been a while since I used the B12 but If I remember correctly it comes in a spray can for spraying down a carb or liquid for pouring into the gas tank or crank case. I would try the seafoam first then the B12 if needed.

Thanks guys

It was doing something weird before resto, which i was thought was caused by a bad carb ( which was rebuilt )

Basically it would cut out under load when cold, and cut out less when warmed up under load. ( spitter spatter, cackle, little back pressure low power )

Hopefully a rebuild will solve all this, as i am kinda at wits end, and spending money i prolly should not be.

Waiting on a quote from Shane's buddy to pull the motor and strip the tins, then reinstall after these guys rebuild it:

Portland Engine Rebuilders

They quoted me about 2k for every thing new , fresh, balanced, bearings everything. So it would be just that and the labor to pull it and pup it back in.

2 weeks time quoted for rebuild, and will find out the other labor cost soon.

On the bright side I will have the exhaust intake re-machine with fresh seals etc.
That way all the possible s*** can be eliminated.

Even found a new big window carb that is non warped and has a stock float that i can rebuild ( might try my hand at this my self, been reading the books )

I have 2 inline filters on the fuel line, so I doubt it could be sand, but who fxxxing knows at this point.

Dang 2k for a rebuild is not to bad at all! I know where I will be hauling my junk to!
If you need help and cant round up some local cruiser heads I could probably be persuaded to make a trip up there for a day and help rip that motor out.

Not too shabby for a basically new engine :D ( core obviously the same )

Waiting to hear back on that dude for an estimate for pulling the motor and popping it back in...
If I do not hear back from him soon maybe I will take you up on that offer :D

Oy what a process ;)

What does a newly rebuilt f135 motor sound/feel like?
Nice and smooth? ( for a tractor i mean ) :D

Ugh!

I really will send you the manifolds and stuff Monday. I promise. Sorry to hear about the truck. I would drive it for a while at least. Try to get some fun in.
