:meh:...you have two wiper motors, I only one, don`t know if it`s adjustable on yours.
We need John ( Living in the Past) he`s the Cruiser Guru :D
Found a pic , the wipers are parked on the left side, ( mine are on the right 1973)... would be easy in that position to fix the blades in the horizontal position , I think. *

* or the arms are different to 73 models & you can`t bring them in the horizontal position... ???

Anyone notice this FJ40 hardtop has FJ25 wheels on it?

i always found that pic interesting because of the hard top door opening... interesting the color by the artist....its the same pic that has the top part red and red lettered bezel...always found that to be a cool color choice...have yet to see an actual 40 with the combo from factory

The fog lights that SOR is selling are probably made by the same company that made them for Toyota. I would be curious to see what the bulb looks like. The ones in the OEM fog is a special bulb that your are not going down to your local auto parts store and pick up. While Mot was still in Japan he picked up some replacement bulbs for a few of us. If someone buys a set from SOR and posts up a picture I can tell if they are the same. I believe the boxes that mine came in have the current part number for the bulb and your Toyota dealer may be able to get a replacement bulb or two.

The picture of the bracket are the ones we were getting from Steve at Owens Export. These looked more finished and refined then the ones SOR is selling.

On wiring if I use mine in a pre 68 with the old switches the plan is to run a wire from the lo beam off of the dimmer switch to a wiper motor switch and then to fog lights. Then get a custom knob made to match the wiper knob but read fog instead of wiper. That way they operate like modern fog lights and will only wire with the lower wattage lo beam head lights. Which is proabably a good idea if your using the old original wiring like I do.

Thanks for the info, very helpful!

:)

Gonna do some more sleuthing after work :)

Hey Destin, for my resto I bought the SOR fog lights for my '70 FJ40, the only thing now is to figure out how the oem front license plate will come in the picture, I think TX has a mandatory front plate :(

good point :)

Oregon requires front plates as well.... but i do not have mine mounted right now.
Does the OEM plate holder not leave enough space for the fog light mount hole?

The front license plate isn't a problem with the fog lights. They will fit just fine. Of course you can't installed a winch since the standard mounting holes for the license plate are in the center of the bumper. The holes on the passenger's side were there for when you had the opional PTO winch. I've never check to see if the hand crank guide will work with the license plate in the center. Since I use PTO winch it's not a option. I do have a couple of the guides that Mike (Foxfab) had made.

I still would like to figure a option to use the winch/fog light/front license plate together and look stock. AZ doesn't require a front plate but the gas station/store where my cabin is sells a nice personal plate I would like to put on.

just from experience - your front license plate will get bent to **** if it sits below the front of the front bumper like that. Even if you don't wheel your truck, it just seems to happen.
