so what is you favorite kind of pie?

Mine is HUMBLE pie haha

ok so i went to theauto parts store to get fliters and carb cleaners etc.

Got home and i decided to check EVERYthing before pulling the carb and cleaning the lines again.

guess what :)

Before i was not lubing the cam on the distributer where the point cam follower "follows" the cam, and i think it basically wore down the cam follower on the points, because my point gap was TIGHT, like .012 haha. I changed the gap, checked the timing, readjusted the idle mixture and made sure the rpms were spot on...

AND

it RUN PERFECTLY

not a single stumble or hesitation AT all!!!!

So i think it was a mix of a vacuum leak of the carb manifold stud, and me being a complete ametuer idiot and think fuel instead of spark.

I will post a video of it idling soon.

I mean it HAS NEVER run this well, ever, since i owned it :)

AWESOME!!!!!!

idles pretty tight :)

What IS weird, is if it sits for say 10 minutes and i go to start it the vacuum yoyos up and down about 4 inches back in forth.

You can usually rev it out, or if you take off and drive it around the block it goes away...

What you think that could be? nothing to worry about?

All and all super happy :D

yeaps all seems good aside form the vacuum fluctuation when ya start it after it has been sitting for 10-20 minutes, if it is normal then all is well, let me know :)

I will maybe take a video in about 20 minutes and see if it does it agin if that helps :)

again this things is running awesome!!!!

Found a muddy pit in this empty lot that used to be a gas station and mudded around in it for s*** and giggles jsut now :D

If it is cold outside this could be normal, engine cools down a bit and might need a little choke at restart after 10 min. You might want to check for the carb leaking some fuel into the manifold after shut down. You won't have the problem after 2 hours at a restart then.

yep ...you'll get very good at adjusting points....soon you'll be old school and use a matchbook to adjust your gap as I used to do LOL :D

glad to hear its running good

Thanks man

and Thanks for the tip on lubricating the cam on the dis that the point cam feeler contacts :) I think that is why my point feeler wore down so fast before :)

It was about 50 degrees out when this happened.
Not sure if that is your definition of "cold" :D

Out of curiosity, if gas were leaking down into the manifold from the carb after shut down, what would cause that and what would fix that? ( where would it be leaking from )

Thanks for the info guys :)

Learning and relearning things :)

Was awesome to bomb around today having it run like a top :D

I can take a video of the vacuum gauge tomorrow after i run the rig for a while, then shut it off for 10 minutes and refire it :)

I was distracted with dinner :D

Anyway hope to take it out on the trails this weekend, supposed to be a rainy one, but it will be fun, I will post up photos :D

Just fired up "big red" and drove to the store :)

Cold start, fired up quickly and idled smoooooth and low, pulling 19-20 inches of mercury from the gate :D

Fawking LOVE this truck.

I consider that nice a temp for the time of year.
The float in the bowl closes off the fuel suply when the level is reached. If you have some debri stuck to the needle it might not close 100% letting more fuel in then desired. This can be just enough to overflow the bowl into the manifold. Once the pressure is off the line it stops leaking so it will be just a little bit of fuel causing the engine to run to rich after restarting. Not saying this is the case with your engine but I've seen it happen once and it took a long time to find out.
