Learn some dope s*** from the painter today
( he paints stuff for nike, and even hugh hefner etc )

He was saying any bolts or screws that i want painted, just pluck em into a big sheet of cardboard and label with a permanent marker.
Then they will just shoot it with the acrylic enamel :D
The permanent maker will bleed through the paint on the cardboard , so you can label them for each section and part.
That way when you reassemble just pluck them out of the cardboard and there you go :D

Cool stuff:D

Destin,

This is exciting. Nice work on everything so far. People say it's fun doing assembly. I can't speak for you, but the whole process has been fun for me, from purchasing all the way up to assembly.
There are some definite benefits to having a 40. Most of the parts are available! So, that is some good news.
It is also going to be neat to see that original red color done. What color is your top?
My cruiser believe it or not was originally cream. You can see the cream color in some of the sanding pictures I posted.
So, yours being original and all will be really neat.
When assembling the painted pieces make sure you drape a sheet over each piece you bolt on, then when in place, remove the sheet. Doing that this time around i didn't nick or scratch a single thing!!

Sorry to rant on your thread here but I finally found your posting. Good luck on everything and keep up the excellent work. Oh, and no....you DONT need your hubcaps, you can send them to me....lol

Thanks bro :D

So stoked to be finally making progress :D

My canvas top is an OD green from Ehlan ordered through SouthBoston.
The colors can vary from piece to piece, So i will see what it looks like when it arrives. I did a few photoshop mocks and it should look good with the red.
but if not i can always trade with someone else etc :D

Nice tip on the sheet to prevent chipping etc :D
Sooooo stoked to start putting this bad boy back together :D

Thanks again man. :D

Sweet on the top - can't wait to see it.

You know, when I get my cruiser done, I am going to start building the framework for a canvas "topper", to look like a FST. My wife has a big quilter with a heavy needle on it - so I may just go buy the canvas and have her make it. Just brainstorming at this point.....

Looking forward to more!!

Destin I was looking at those pics again...man that frame is nice!!!

Can't wait to see it after you clean it up!

It looks like: 135 HP 4 Wheel Drive

Spent the last 4 days in hells canyon / halfway oregon.

So beautiful over there :D

Will post some pics when I get some time.
Great trip, wish I would have had the cruiser, or my motorcycle, but fun all the same :D
Some knee dragging canyon corners and great offroad trails around there.

Stayed at the old birch tree ranch in halfway, so pretty.

:D

ugh, might do a keith code track day in LA with some friends :D

Been off the saddle riding since i broke my collar bone doing a buck 30 passing on the outside at PIR :D

Boo0000zy tonight :D

I'm with JohnnyC... I'm sure I'm not the only one living vicariously through your build. http://images.ih8mud.com/images/smilies/biggrin.gif All good though.

I might have missed it but did you ever get the windscreen off?

Body shop is doing it for free :)

They were pretty impressed i pulled the whole thing apart myself and dropped all the parts clean organized and ready to go including the tub :D

They asked me to bring the frame / chassis in to drop the body on when it is done, they want it to be chip free an perfect :D
