This one won't be getting a receiver. There are plenty of options on the market to accommodate that type of thing. The one I posted earlier, SLEE makes one, etc.

Just curious, if something like that would be too high, why is an OEM receiver that's mounted under the bumper not work? Especially since you seem to want it specifically for towing?
i do not and will never need a hitch and the DUDE is the man

As requested, here’s a quick video showing how the latch system works. I’m probably starting to sound like a DeltaVS shill but I’m just really impressed with this thing and they’ve got a chunk of my money to prove it. Heck, deep down I probably hope they don’t sell many so mine can keep being special :flipoff2:

Very cool design! Can easily incorporate a lock even. Sadly it costs a bit more than I like.

Unfortunately, very hard to have only one of these.

Very true! But budget is also budget and for most people this is not essential to survival or have any affect on daily quality of life.

However if budget allows this is definitely on top of the list.

Agreed, with one comment on the "affect on daily life"; unless you're wife has Lana Cane hands, this bumper ends up being much more usable for the whole family in daily life. We had a rig show up at the shop with a different bumper on it, was pretty surprised with how much work was involved in locking the swingarm in place.

Awesome video! That is exactly what I was looking for. So, when you close the swingout, it seems like the interface holds it in place but the lever/latch mechanism locks it. Is that right? Also, do the swingouts incorporate any provision the pushes the swingout open? Or, is it just free swinging with a pin lock available when open? Man... I might have to start saving for one of these... Thanks for all the info.

This is going to be a game changer for the family. My 5'1 wife is strong, but she refuses to open up my rear swing outs because it is a PIA to muscle the latches. This will make a major difference. I call dibbs on the next bumper off the production floor.

1. that is correct

2. NO, while it would be nice on a rare occasion on the trail, we decided it could be devastating in a parking lot (slamming the arm open into somebody else's rig if you're not used to it or if you're hands are full, etc). There are places it can be added by the user if wanted.

3. yes, the lock pin is spring loaded and there is a positive stop so that it swings open to a stop, then the pin engages.

4. yes, many thanks to @boogiebones for the informative video!

This is why your bumper is on top of my list. I don’t have a rear bumper for the sole reason of I use my rear cargo area a lot! I hate to have open swing outs and just about all of them are hard. Even as easy as your swing out looks I still dread the idea of extra step but this is night and day better.

Fortunately for me the 80 isn’t my DD or even kids mover, unfortunately because Of that it’s way low on the priority list.

However If you can do a good group buy I might be able to be swayed........:hillbilly:

No sweat man! And you are right like DeltaVS replied there is the solid mount interface and the latch that locks It. That sounds like it’s two separate things which technically it is but in practice they work as one total unit when closed up. When you get the positioning of the components just right while installing they end up kinda seating together and become one solid unit. It’s brilliant.

As someone who's opened your rear swing out, yes, you need this. :p

I’m a visual person so this video helps a ton. Unfortunately a rear bumper is way low on my priority list but I’ll be damned if this rear bumper isn’t at the top of my rear bumper choices. Ultimately, I think the modular design of this bumper is what has me sold. Loving all of the different set-ups/options that this bumper will feature. Did I miss a price point on this bumper?
Been watching this thread for a while so excuse me if I missed the price!

Group buy in....let’s say ~2 years boys and I’ll be good to go :hillbilly:

Since the bumper is modular what configuration do you think would be on the option list? Are the swing mounts modular meaning I can get one or both swing out?

Also can you make a basic or poorman’s version that’s more budget friendly....couple of ideas to trim costs are:

- minimum, Thinner or smaller over all actual rear bumper which would save weight also

-no need for fancy step, looks cool but I don’t foresee needing it, I have sliders for that. This also helps with reduce that section of the bumper or to my first suggestion

To be all honest I really like the swingsouts and lock mechanism however I’m not crazy about the big fancy lower bumper itself.

Another suggestion is have holes aligned with the pinto hitch mounting holes so people can attach the pinto hitch. I don’t want my bike rack to hang that low.

With some tweaking and downgrade the lower bumper portion which should also trim some cost and weight this bumper could be the new cats meow!

How stout is that center section where the pintle mount is? Is it just an additional layer over the factory rear cross member, or does it have additional reinforcement beyond that? Additional strength at that point for strenuous dynamic recovery is an important feature in my world.

Mark...

Use the shackle mounts for recovery, problem solved. Even if you read all the pintle threads on MUD, they generally say it will tow, but not recommended as a recovery point.

Definitely top of the list for a replacement bumper. Provisions for a backup cam? I really like mine driving in the city.

Did I miss a price point on this bumper?

No, you didn’t. We are still waiting on a couple final components and final powdercoating prices before that is finalized. We are shooting to be competitive with a fully kitted out SLEE for same/similar options. BUT, you will be able to add options down the road instead of having to go whole hog at the beginning.

1. Since the bumper is modular what configuration do you think would be on the option list?
2. Are the swing mounts modular meaning I can get one or both swing out?

1. There will be:
-base bumper
-arms (0,1, or 2)
-tire carrier*
-jerrycan carrier (they carry 1, can be daisychained to carry more)*
-hi-lift holder*
-ladder*
-kitchen/tool box*

*On edit: these four five attachments will require at least one arm to bolt to. Tire will take up one arm, a second arm can fit hilift and two jerrycans and maybe some more stuff

As stated before, because of our manufacturing process, you will be able to just get the base bumper, then upgrade with arm(s) later down the road.

2. Addressed above

3. If you want a custom bumper, you pay for a custom bumper

How stout is that center section where the pintle mount is? Is it just an additional layer over the factory rear cross member, or does it have additional reinforcement beyond that?

I would say the structure of the bumper is adding strength to the whole thing there. There is lots of internal support and the bumper basically bolts together to be a huge square tube around the frame.

That being said, no thought was put into increasing the strength of the stock attachment point. The bumper is using those holes to add rigidity to the bumper itself.

Definitely top of the list for a replacement bumper. Provisions for a backup cam? I really like mine driving in the city.

Where is your cam mounted now? That is something that seems to be unique to each rig, so we didn’t designate anything. Plenty of places to tuck one of those in though, and what I would consider part of the fun for me.

What about a group buy????

Highly unlikely (I.E., no). All that does is keep us from selling bumpers for longer. There will be some kind of small Mud discount though.
