It all makes sense now, the reason Mr. T made the 80 so heavy was so it could get traction at the bottom of the river bed.

here is a crossing from last December night time, flash flood and it started snowing after the p/u drown. we drug cable just in case on the first crossing to not lose the truck

Probably why they use it in a commercial... 
so, was it that the first truck pulled the winch cable out from the second and then pulled the second (stuck) with that winch cable locked or did you have the winch working? Or something different altogether? (Mostly curious about how good it is to pull somebody's truck with their locked winch cable...)
We were slightly concerned about depth and the p/u has no snorkel, so we hooked up the cable from the cruiser to the pickup on the the first crossing. free spooled the line across with myself ready to engage the clutch, mash on the brakes and start pulling. the water didn't lift the p/u and only a slight sideways push was felt. so i spooled up the cable, I dont think that a winch moves fast enough for a crossing like this and didnt even think to have the p/u match my speed with the clutch engaged and ready but a p/u isnt a very good anchor for a cruiser. if the p/u didnt float away my 6600#ish cruiser wasnt going to so contemplated doing the crossing in my cruiser, after a half hour or so i decided to go for it.(not on video) the second time through on the way home we werent so licky as the intake is on the drivers side on the 3.slo. after a couple of headgaskets and a few gallons of water out of the rear axle housing amazingly enough that thing runs again. I do feel that this is about my threshold for swiftness of the water I would be happy with deeper. there are many things to be concerned about whats under there? with water that fast how many watermellon sized boulders are rolling down that?
all I really KNOW for sure is there is lots of risk involved and if you have a doubt you probably shouldn't do it. HTH

Please don't ban me from mentioning I have a stock Turbo 4Runner here and I'm worried about water crossings with it.
Can anyone tell me if these LC's are running Turbo's and if they can be affected by water crossings? And how you prep, if equipped, a turbo for water crossings.
I'm worried about heat, and warpage specifically.
Also are these rigs running AT's?...Thats my next "oh, crap"
