I don't know if this is deep, but it was indeed challenging...Turkey Day 2006 with the VA/MD gents in the GW National Park area....

I think that qualifies.;)

I'm looking for the pic of the 80 with snorkel, and all you can see is the top of the windshield, roof, and snorkel...

so besides keeping a bow wave in front of the vehicle and extending the diff, t case, and trans breathers, what is required to safely ford such deep water? Any mods done to the distributor or fan?

That looks pretty deep to not be running a snorkel. No water into the intake??

Negative. Water was indeed pretty high for about 500 or so feet then shallowed out. Just kept giving it consistent skinny pedal and creating a good bow in front of the engine bay.

Here are a few more pics of the same crossing....

From fun race 4x4. I think it's a Venezuelan race?

How much water came in thru the floorboards and doors?

FWIW, water won't make it past door seals and such if you're moving. At least not too much. If you stop the hydrostatic pressure increases and they'll leak. Like Beano said, a good bow wave and steady progress at a constant speed is a good thing.

My anus still puckers on any water crossing.

Very little...I don't recall anything associated with having to dry out afterwards. That said, I have no interior rugs or anything. It's herculined inside.

Went thru a crossing not quite as deep as that one in Costa Rica with a Hyundai Galloper and water came in thru the dash, floorboards and door "seals." Good times!! Thought for a minute that the truck was going to die in the middle of the rain forest.

newb alert :): that's all very nice in pics, but also not very smart if you don't know what you are doing and if your truck is not fully prepped. Chances are you can do some damage, doesn't take much.
