Got started on the exhaust manifold yesterday. Pulled out the heatriser flap and shaft, which turned out to be a good thing: one of the bolts was broken.

Put on some hi temp primer that I understand @78fj40mg had something to do with acquiring. A few light coats, half an hour drying time, and on to vht paint.

Mark,

Any chance we can get the spec on the primer and vht? Was the vht an aerosol?

Thanks!

There is such a thing as a rolling restoration. I took an oath to myself that I would not do what I did with my swb ever again. With the lwb, the mantra for 22years and counting has been NOTHING that requires the rig to be down for more than two weeks. All it takes is discipline...and a few spare parts.:grinpimp:

that has to be my mantra too. the 45 is the only car now between my mrs and i and we are about to have our lives head in a serious different direction... we will be moving down to Botswana onto my uncles farm where we both have jobs waiting. im glad, bc i grew up a farmer and its where the 45 really belongs, on a game farm in the african bush. i just need to get her there now. then i can embrace your levels of OCDness that keep me awake at night :grinpimp:

Mark, Yes I did have a small part in obtaining the primer but Dave @DSB345 did all the hard work.
Anyway thanks for the mention!

BTW the manifold looks great!

So, we've been basically bottle-necked for a few weeks now. Can't hang the manifolds until they are reassembled. Reassembly requires the re-zinced hardware. Don't have enough other stuff to zinc to justify sending a lot to the plater. And with all the work pouring into the shop, I don't have the time to pre-clean the parts I want to get re-zinced for myself. So there we are.

Did manage to get an EGR block-off plate ordered from @FJ40Jim yesterday. Will be picking it up in person in PA in a couple of weeks.:bounce: Of course, after partying with @beno it'll be interesting to see if I remember where I put it!

I am overwhelmed with work I can't see straight plus I'm looking for a new house:)

Dave... I liked your post because Mike liked it... not because you are overwhelmed, can't see straight and looking for a new house.

Actually, the first and third go well together... hopefully, your eyes will resolve themselves shortly. ;)

@78fj40mg Mike, next week I will be flying into Seattle next Thursday night so I can drive my daughters UHAUL van from Seattle to Denver because she got a better job there. Wish I could meet up but I will be pressed for time. We will be leaving Friday morning. :(
