Looks even worse in the picture once you flipped it over. I can't believe I missed that during the initial inspection at purchase.

I don't know why, but a hunch told me to have Dave bring the front axle in first. He had mentioned the housing had some booger welds on it and I was going to have to supply another housing. Well I didn't turn it over to look at it before I disassembled it. It took me a day to realize why the ring gear had the craziest wear pattern on it I had ever seen!

The booger weld was huge, obviously requiring armor-piercing munitions, and was obviously done with the third still installed.

Have you looked at my Wall Of Shame?

Finally, got the body on the body dolly. Building it was more difficult that I expected but it came out great

Heading home for the weekend now. Got the other spindle/backing plate assembly on, along with the steering rod. Shock hardware is ordered. One hub/rotor done. Got Gabe's tire carrier mocked up, finished knuckles on the Fireman's axle. i'm tired.

I think the most confusing part of the third member is the spider gears!

Dave

What did you end up doing about the bend in the rear crossmember of the frame? If you fixed it, we wanna see before and after pics.

Get used to this. We're voyeurs!:D

I have a few dimples in the rear crossmember that need to be straightened. The place I took it to said they can straighten them out. We will see!!! But the first they need to sandblast it first. Here is a few pics.
I will post pics later of the repairs before powder coat. I'm going with a semi gloss powder coat finish.

What is amazing about this frame is that a significant portion of the frame still has the original coating.
