Really could be any mercedes of that era, looks just like the two old ones I had. Trying to find out the exact model for the cover. You may be right as the W126's I had had a much more fancy door handle, could still be a 240 or 300D from that era maybe but since you have a 380 right now i'll defer to it being that.
I have an 84 and an 85 380SL sitting right outside Al, exact same interior. Door handles, seats, center console and switches all exact.
