Hey Guys,

Hoping to knock out two birds with one post.

Question 1: Where can I get a CV Axle snap ring in various sizes quickly? I swapped my axle today and the snap rings I have are all very tight and i'm being paranoid that it hasn't seated down all the way. I did use an axle puller tool. Maybe I am being paranoid?

Question 2: The inner tie rod lock washer. Which way does the metal tab bend? Outboard towards the wheel onto the socket side, or inwards towards the engine? Reason I ask is because it looks like it can be bent onto a flat spot opposite the socket (wheel) side towards engine.

The fastest way to get various sized snap rings would be your local Toyota or Lexus dealer - assuming they have them in stock. CruiserTeq is pretty quick, but you're still probably looking at about a week (depending on where you are in the states).

The lock washer on the inner tie rod is bent correctly in your photo. It should start to wrap around the inner tie rod. I imagine that flat on the actual steering rack piston is just to give you somewhere to apply counter-leverage so you're not just cranking against the pinion gear when you torque down the inner tie rod.

Gotcha, makes sense. I was wondering because I tightened the crap out of the inner rods last time I replaced them AND bent the tabs in the correct position but they still came loose.

Regarding the snap rings, I called Toyota and the guy at the parts counter had no idea about the different thickness snap rings. Any idea if there are part numbers floating around out there for the various thicknesses?

Torque spec for those inner tie rods is 74 ft-lbs, which is no joke for sure.

I pulled the snap ring part numbers from PartSouq when I needed to order a full complement - here they are. I don't remember what thicknesses they correspond to, but if you google them it should pull up:
90520-31005
90520-31006
90520-31007
90520-31008
90520-31009
90520-31010

Dude, you rock. Thank you so much.

I think this looks right from searching toyota parts deals in the notes section:

31005 - T2.8
31006 - T2.6
31007 - T2.4
31008 - T2.2
31009 - T2.0
31010 - T2.0

Makes sense to me since I had snap rings 05 / 06 / 07 so going to order 08 and 09.

I think the last one is 1.8.

I am going to get all 6 sizes as well as I am going to do new bushings in the front.
And because I need one as I lost mine in the last few days of our 5 week trip.
Lost both the dust cap and the snap ring.
FPriced everything up of what I need (replacing all bolts/nuts and ornamental caps) and found Impex the cheapest with the same parts.

When setting the snap ring in place I usually try to spin it to make sure it is seat in the groove. Should not spin too easy but it should spin just a bit. At least that way you know it's in there. I also take the ring that I think will fit and test fit it by taking the opposite side from the open c part and place it in there and make sure there is no slop. @2001LC has quite a few posts and videos that may give you some good visuals ont he matter. He take the time to use feeler gauges and does a real good job of giving you good info. HTH!

Also a good idea to go ahead and order a set of 6 from @cruiseroutfit and put with a spare cv for the next time you need them. Cheap insurance

What were the symptoms? I haven't touched my inner tie rod ends, but everything is tight that I can see, haven't yet checked the inners yet.
No symptoms I just happened to notice it when I removed the tie rod to replace the cv axle that something felt clunky so I decided to inspect the inner boot.
