I just looked. If you put their bottoms even with the bottom of the inside door trim panel the tops would just barely clear underneath the seat tilt lever. So maybe just barely. You could not put them higher up, there isn't enough clearance between the door and seat parts.

I do not. I was planning on looking for those. I am putting a list together to ask CDan/beno about first, then shop for used...

so on the 79 series birfs....is there groove for the c clip on the stub shaft. I'm using the later 80 axle and I'm gonna have to machine the groove or get the older stub shaft with the grove and no abs.

The 79 series birfs have a groove but they are longer than the birfs that are meant for hubs.

The birf on the right: 43405-60120 is the birf from a 1991-4/1994 80 series. It is also the correct part for current 7x series rigs with manual hubs. Toyota hasn't changed much in the many years between 1991 and today. Keep a proven technology that works very well.

These are the birfs I run in my rig but have the earlier 8mm holed manual hubs from the mid 1990's 7x/8x vehicles.

The mines that use 70 series trucks have the birfs drilled and tapped. I did not do that myself.

First time I read your post, I thought it said "by me". Cool idea either way.

yep, ENS started doing that years back. drilled all the way from tip to bell with grease fitting at the end.

seemed to do the job, sure easier than tearing the front apart.

For sure, and more effective than adding grease through the access hole in the knuckle. I wonder how much that weakens the stub of the birf Probably not enough to be worthy of discussion depending on the size of the bit used.
