Looks good. I would suggest anyone not local to the OP go to a local car audio shop and get a price. I think you could get something similar built for $500-700

I would like to see a quote from an audio shop. IMO NO way on $500-$700 They are not going to design and build a one off unit, weather seal it, hardware, carpet it, mount it, etc. for that. At least not here in New England or anywhere I hope. Well maybe one built in China. Ha

^ I have and yeah, not so much. I was looking at over $400 in just materials, my cost. I do NOT have wood working skills/tools so I am at the mercy of someone with the talent.

Exactly. Thanks for that post for other mudders to have a grasp of what it really costs and takes to build.

A car audio shop will typically charge a $500 to build a simple sub encloser, there is no way you are getting a set of drawers custom built for that much.

Also, for drawers with movug parts, I want them built by an experienced cabinet maker, not an audio shop taking a swing at it.

I've worked in several car audio shops. We did lots of things that moved with actuators like amp racks. It doesn't require "cabinet maker" fit and finish for something that will be covered with carpet. $1350 is a base price so add for latches and such. So for $1350 you get wood, carpet, slides and a couple of non latching pulls? And then add shipping?

Not trying to knock the builder but at $1350 plus maybe $200 or so for shipping you'd be better off looking local.

^^^^^thanks. Pm me about a half depth drawer set. I am willing to do that.

Great looking box! Is that a semi permanent mounting setup or can you take it back out pretty easily to use the 3rd row?

^^^^ It bolts down through 3row seats bolts. You can have it out in 10 min. With a hand from a friend to lift it out.

I tip my hat to the appeared fit & finish of this setup; really like the drawer dividers.

Stay Tuned....My set is in progress now (frame complete).
I'm using metal frame with a drop in flush box for sub woofer than can be removed.

Here is PDF:

I used 1" 11ga tube and 1x1x1/8 Angle as it was what I had, a lighter gauge would be much better (lighter and as strong)

Wrapping front lip with aluminum 1x1 as well.

For the side pieces above wheel wells I added pieces of 7.5" long tube and then cut to desired length using cut off blade in Angle Grinder.

Thanks for sharing your PDF. Curious why the subwoofer is removable. Thinking similar idea for the sub but not removable.

Thinking when I go camping that I might trade bass for a water jug or sleeping bag. My intentions are to cut entire top piece. Then cut out sub portion so top will be nearly seamless. Then build a box to fit inside that cubby hole. I have to make a sub enclosure (box) for best sound so why not just make it so it can lift out?

Horne, Sounds like a cool project. Start a build thread on your unit.

If I had use for this type of setup...these would be ideal for me...best looking drawer set, in terms of build quality, attention to detail, and execution I've seen yet. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one...if I could only justify it.
I built my home, and I do all my own mods and maintenance on my vehicles, but I know where I'm good, and where I'm not.
One day, these won't be available, and I'll regret I didn't buy one, and stash it until the day I needed it. Good work, scrowley!! BTW...what do you use instead of roller gliders, HDPE?

Gotcha. Great idea. I'd like to see a build thread too.

Thanks for the kind words. I put in a lot of effort to put out the best quality I can. These box's are very stout and really maint. free. About the drawer slides. There are no slides. Just a compression fit box with perfectly square box's. The whole unit is coated in poly. They slide very easy even with a lot of weight. There is no room wasted on the drawer slides, no moving parts to break, no rattling of the slides when they are worn. I was going to use a composite rail inside if needed but for me after 2 yrs of using my unit I never had the need. If anyone is worried about the drawers falling out a safty pin can easily be added.

I realized your construction technique, after reading your other build thread. I prefer your type of construction over roller glides, so they don't "take off" on the user, when parked on a hill. Simple and brilliant. Do you use birch ply?
