Hee's something a little more current from Northern California. I just checked on a LX 450 last week at a local automall. It's a 96 with lockers. 100,850 miles. Asking price was $15,792. I estimate you could negotiate a chunk off the "asking" price.

California prices seem a little higher than other states -- TX and FL seem to have lower prices...though I'd avoid a FL vehicle right about now...

I agree about avoiding Fl--found a 97 with 200k in the hurricane area--few more miles than I would like--they are asking $7,000 oh and it is maroon. I'm hoping to find around a 94 with a cloth interior......

Thanks for the link...

Found a 95 with a new motor, trans, transfercase for $9500 with reciepts. Also found a 93 with under 100k for $8500. A 96 with 100k for $9000--best deal so far.

thing is that *on average* you end up paying for what you get (or the opposite).
Sure, one can get a great deal if one is patient and knowledgeable enough, but of all the "great deals" I saw advertised and checked, the vast majority had problems that were reflected in the price.
Not too many "miracles" out there...

Thats for sure, I've already spent more than $2500 in maintenance stuff, and that doesn't even include the mods I want to make(ie Bull Bar, Lockers, sliders, new Tires)

I passed on a "miracle" and I will jack the guy who drives up in it at Pismo! :)

and then buy it from him cheap!

eh, that's a thought, take a jar with you when you go shopping for a TLC: "sorry Sir but this things needs a new front end" -angelic face-

Man, it's too painful. I think I have internal bleeding from it.

$ 6500 for '93 with 100k and lockers.

Had light front collision (mashed bumper, nothing else). In good condition, but needed maintence.

I strongly recommend you have someone look it over before you buy. I almost bought one on ebay a last month and it looked awesome in all the photos. A fellow cruiser head went to look at it and it had a lot of problems you can't see in photo's. Glad I didn't get that one. Just look at this thread and see all the problems that were found with what looked pristine in the photo's

Good luck

I paid 19.5 5 months ago for my locked 97.....it also only had 43K miles :D Seems like alot but not really since the sticker price was 51K and its barely broken in at that mileage.

$8000 for my '94(in Oregon), unlocked, but in pretty good shape at 160,000. Needs front-end service tho' as I ascertained while doing the front diff oil change this week. I've been studying for the occasion, and trying to get a part list ready for Dan...

Book value for a 97 40th anniv with that kind of mileage is still in the 16.5-18K range.

If you are getting those prices from KBB don't trust them. KBB devalues Toyotas, NADA is better for Toyotas unforunately they don't factor in condition, they just assume the average wear and tear.

If you find a 97 (40th anniv ed) with lockers in good condition with no more than 100K miles on it for 11,500 I am sure quite a few people would like to know.

There was a lx450 on ebay a while back in mint cond with 40K org miles, the bidding went up to 23K and the reserve wasn't even met. He was living in another world though.

any interest in emailing me the link :)

I found a 97 LX450 in the auto trader for $12k 46,000 but it has a salvage title. I agree you get what you pay for but not all the owners of Land Cruiser are clued in on fair market value...... I have also been checking out a few 40's in my search--there are some great deals right now. I figure not too many people want an older cruiser like a 94 with cloth interior--I look every day :) in the mean time I am driving a vw bug--it scares me

found a black 96 with 92k for $10,000 somebody beat me too it by 5 minutes....

I just bought my 94', locked, 2.5" emu, ARB front winch bumper, 111,000 miles, new brakes, exhaust, rear main seal, all tranny and tcase seals done, complete front end job, including diffs, rear diffs done, great shape, no rust, interior in great shape, leather, no leaks, new BFG AT's, picked it up for $14k. here in SLC.

Bought my '96 in July here in NorCal - 110k, full 2.5" OME Setup, factory lockers, Kaymar rear bumper, ARB winch bumper, 8k Warn winch, 295-75 BFT ATs, PIAA lights, Bosch horn (woo hoo!), Jet Chip, K&N filter, chromed aluminum wheels ;), and very clean - $17.5k. Not a great deal, but a fair deal.

Bought my 97 several months ago, unlocked, 100k miles, VERY CLEAN, dealer serviced for $14K in NC.
