This is the "near final" tune. The engine at 74 mph is right at 2050 RPMs the tires will be upgraded to a 35" which should bring rpms at 74 mph to right below 2 k. (Current tires are 31s approximately)

Clean swap!

5.9's are great engines and should move the 80 quite well!

Enjoy

Nice balls, 120 km's with the doors open in reverse. You truly are talented. p.s. nice build!

It's the gauge on the left. Labeled "pyrometer". Go back to page 4 halfway up.

Sorry, didn't see it on my crappy setup. I upgraded to a 32" monitor when my 22" gave out and was too cheap to get a better graphics display card so now things are a bit blurry, especially small text. But can see it OK on my corporate laptop (don't tell anyone I used it for that).

Are you going to put on an oil bypass filter?

No, the filter is pretty easy to access...

That's good, but I was equally concerned about the benefits of cleaner oil. Perhaps I am a bit "anal" and I know diesel oils today are quite good, but if I can be superclean instead of just clean, why not? They aren't expensive and will pay for themselves if you want to do extended oil service intervals like big rigs, but I just like having my oil changed every hour or so of driving without actually having to do it. An investment protection kind of thing. It appears that there is plenty of room for it. But again, maybe I have ECD tendencies.

Its time! I fly out tomorrow to pick her up. The 1000 mile drive home. Standby for "as it happens updates"

Next steps: paint, new Slee 4 inch lift with the addition of 35" toyo MT's, new radio and CB.

Interesting bit of trivia. The team weighed this vehicle when it was delivered and upon completion. I think the numbers will shock and amaze you!

Front axle (pre Cummins "PC") 3120
Front axle (After Cummins "AC") 3500

Total weight PC 6060
Total weight AC 6520

Rear axle PC 2920
Rear axle ***AC 3020 An additional battery is in the rear as well as half a tank of fuel and a case of standadyne fuel treatment. Net- there is no change.

So total weight gain- 380 pounds! Not bad at all.

And with twice the torque you'll have yourself a zippy rig that can pass others going uphill. :)
You will actually find yourself letting off the accelerator going uphill as you can easily accelerate past you braking comfort point.

Made it home! 1100 miles!

Best tank of 16.5
Worst tank 14.1

This is a new Motor! Had 800 miles when I picked it up. So I expect with break in the fuel mileage will continue to improve.

Complaints, would of liked a bit more top end. I was able to keep between 65 and 75 with no effort. Pushing beyond 75 can happen but you are pushing some physic laws.
Mated to the toy transmission creates a very low and slow start out. Once you are past 15 mph...you are off!! It was strange being able to pass on a hill.

Positives, quiet during the drive. Actually as quiet as the original engine. At the drive through, you will need to shut down. At the pump! It's very cool to hear that rattle!

Great power! I kept an eye on every gauge to make sure all was well. Engine temp was solid and dint fluctuate at all. EGT could run up but never got into danger. AC was cold enough to make me forget it was summer outside, massive improvement!
