Lol fortunately I don't have any of those problems! All been cut out.

It's seeming like I'm going to have to a switch to a GM master cylinder though. Ordered an adapter from Sky's, thinking 1 1/4 bore, the stock 1" master doesn't seem like it's gonna push enough volume. I wasn't sure if it would be enough, considering I'm running stock drum brakes on the 14 bolt I was hoping to get away with it but doesn't look like it's gonna work.

Have you considered hydro boost?

Well, I don't have your brake problems, so ha! :D

I've been thinking about hydroboost on mine need to add the original cummins check valve into the system closer to the pump I don't have great idle vacuum at start up. Or off-roading for that matter. I didn't have room with the coilover tower to keep it on its original pump location.

Just need to find time haven't had a chance to drive the cruiser in the last week and tune the new gov spring and fuel pin.

There is a guy here on mud that has it down. I'll have to see if I can dig his name up...

I know boots is running hydro boost but I don't think he's running hydro assist. Everywhere I looked made it seem very problematic. I don't think I'll have a problem once I get a larger master cylinder. It's not a big deal to swap. Or it shouldn't be...

i ran steering ram assist with jeep 4bt chevy m/hydro brakes, you have to increase pressure and flow. I used West Texas Redneck Ram instructions and ram parts. when your hard on the brakes you don't always have pressure available for the steering. You learn to balance it, light on the brakes only as much input as needed to maintain steering assist off-road. never noticed any issues on road other than loss of steering feel with the assist.

Bearings will be here this week to fix the broken thrust bearing as a result of the wobbly flywheel.

In preparation, spent about 2 hours on the pan today. A quick notch and oil pick-up relo. I TIG'ed the pan, but the welds still look a bit hellish. The pan has an interior panel that was happy to introduce oil into my welds as I went. Since we're not trying to win shows with this, just ran with it...

The 6BT pan will need to look something like this if on otherwise stock steering in the 80...

Hey Turbo, why don't you just start your own thread so that all of your posts and progress can be in one place? That one place will be specific to your build up and the other threads can be specific for their owners as I am sure you all will do things differently and it might be confusing for some.

Turns out you can over torque bump cans, if your air bumps don't extend after you stuff them, that's probably the issue... I had no idea, just a PSA.

In other news, without an anti-wrap bar or rear shocks the torque lean is impressive if I really get on it.

Apologies to the OP. I was thinking that this thread was to compile 6BT swap info... I probably misread. Didn't mean to thread jack!

Maybe I can compile enough info worthy of a new thread. Just thought I'd post up some of the fixes I've found for the 6BT motor in the 80 as I came across them. I realize now that the way I'm doing it may not be particularly organized...

LOL idk man you do good work, doesn't hurt my feelings, but it probably would be more organized in a thread of its own.

I was planning on posting all kinds of rock crawler crap in here. Not really your typical cummins swap haha.

I did make it kind of confusing because I really wanted to call out Jonesys dusier whoever without making a separate thread about it, so I figured I'd just do it in the intro to my build.

so uhh yeah... no matter

Also, not sure I'm sold on the welded rear end. I think a selectable locker is in my future... not anytime soon sadly.

It loads the suspension up on turns kinda weird. Contributes to body roll. IDK. Not how I thought it'd handle I guess.

1" master cylinder is not enough for 14 bolt drum and chevy 60 disc

ordered a sky's manuf. adapter probably run a 1 1/4" bore mc. Stock chevy k30s came with 1 5/16 GOD DAMNNNNN THATS A HUGE BITCH

Have a few leaks to chase down. Need a choke cable kinda deal since I deleted the fuel kill solenoid.

Jberry solved my air bump problem, where once I compressed the bumps the shafts wouldn't come down any. Turns out... you can overtorque the bump can bolts. NEVER SAW ANY MENTION OF THAT ANYWHERE EVER. So glad I have Jason to help me! I was like WTF man.

Exhaust is like really loud but what ya gonna do... The turbo whine sounds bad ass though.

Interior sucks, needs custom s*** for the shifters. PITD.

Turns out the one side of the truck is covered in bondo, and they didn't know what they were doing... And there's mismatched doors, you can see the color change in the above picture. The roof racks on these 80s suck btw. I took a sawzall to the mounting studs to get it off and there was rust and cracked bondo under one of the feet. Went ham on it with a roloc, need to get something kinda color match. Yuck.
