I spend most of my Teenage years in Oregon. Not sure if it was timing or what but moved to Flagstaff right out of high school. Within a year my folks moved to LA and I stayed in Flagstaff. Other than the amount of water I prefer the four seasons of N. AZ to OR. 2002 was the last time I was there. Picked up a cruiser I bought off eBay in the small town of Beaver on the coast. Had a brother-in-law who lived in Beaverton. He knew of a way over the coastal range heading out from Carlton. A big part was gravel and dirt. On the west side of the mountain went by a state campground. The site was small cutouts in the blackberry bushes. Seems if it wasn't blackberries it was ferns that would be wet up to your knees. Probably didn't hurt within a few years of moving to AZ I was driving a Land Cruiser. This was when there very few restrictions in the forest.
