Another thing you may consider is 2 small winches. One for the front axle and one for the rear axle so that on hills like in your picture you can winch the axle down to keep your good center of gravity. Its too bad their are not a lot of 40s out their. But nice job on this one so far, doing that type of custom suspension is a lot of work.

Thank you, I plan to setup a small winch forward for steep climbs. In the photo I see how much the front suspension is discharged. The first time, I'm going to use its main winch, pulling the axle to the frame, I hope it will not be a problem because of the high speed winding rope.

Very nice build.

Needs moar flex

What's the quality of Russian steel like?

Neat rig,

Metallurgy - I can field this question.... it's as good or maybe even a bit better then American steel. Don't confuse Russia with China. When Russia was having trouble paying for wheat imports (early 90s), they paid the US with stainless shipments - the wheat went over, the stainless came back as "ballast"for the ships along with payment for the wheat. At one point it was cheaper to by 304 #4 finish 16 ga stainless then it was to by cold roll ($1.00 a lb). We used the heck out of it - and it was as consistent as American stainless in its formulation but it was cleaner (perhaps because they coated it before it left)...

Roll cage is ready

Doors with old crawler will soon go for repairs, they spoil the whole look :)

Wow thats a beefy looking cage. A lot of people use some sort of rubber insulator rather than welding straight to the frame on fj40s. Usually just leaf spring bushings. fj40 frames flex a lot, with the cage welded to the frame directly its possible the body will crack without some give-just a heads up.

Thank you! My expectation is that the frame will not be twisted as before, it will add greater strength roll cage, even if it would burst the metal where it will not happen soon and I was not much worried.

I'm speechless.
Very NICE clean build.
I like the color green/ blue.
Quality workmen ship.

I have a winch for loading the suspension in the rear on my rig. I never ever use it unless I want to lower the bed level for some reason.

Tying into the frame with a cage like that will provide support to the frame and let the suspension do it's job. Nice work!

Thank you, I also plan to use a small winch back, but they are 12 volts and my onboard network 24. For the front axle, I made a winch plate with two fairlead

Front will work fine in that fashion. That is exactly how I have mine, but it's rarely used to suck the front down. Sometimes, but not often. I never use the rear suck down winch. It was a wasted effort.

Thank you! I decided not to rush back to the winch and your opinion proves that we should not rush.
