and that is another reason why i like what i drive, i have one of five 70 series ragtops (ooops actually 2 of them), that is 40% of all diesel 70 series ragtops are in my back yard, i have the only PZJ78 in North America that is turbo'd and intercooled, i have the lowest km FJ75 in North America, the lowest km BJ70 ragtop in North America
and why?
cause i HATE following the crowd, i like standing out just idling into a parking lot.
and if it costs $70K or a $100K to be that way then so be it.

like i said before, i would rather drive a diesel 7* than some 200 series mall queen that looks the same as the other 10,000 200 series mall queens, no matter how cushy the ride.

seriously, there are those that like unique and there are those that keeps Toyota North America ... selling crappy NA knock offs.

You also need to come on down and hang with us at SCC in Oct and teach and show us the ways of 70 series.

I hate to say it but it looked better with out the ARB. The ARB hides to much of that beauty, but I would run it for protection.

Super nice truck.....that and a 427 Cobra and I would be set for life.

Damn straight!

Ah, snap... I think my pockets a little too shallow for that:frown:

I think that is about a $65,000 truck if you could buy it so $35,000 premium for legal import is fair.

the value of a vehicle relates to demand.
many people pay $125K for a H1 which is half of what a HZJ76 is.
would i pay Mike $100K for it? nope. i have my own herd of unique 7*s here and that one is WAY too nice for what i would put it through. is it worth $100K? after the BS he went through to import it and register it? yes, and to the right individual that wants a one of a kind, it is to them as well.

the truck isn't for the average wage earner, it isn't for the average Cruiserhead
but
lets see what it would cost someone else to get one registered in the USA legally ... do your own leg work, find your connections, pay the bounty and then get it registered.

Did I spark this price war

Supply and demand. in action. I was simply saying I couldn't pony up to that price tag. Not that I wouldn't if I couldn't, but I can't.

Like Nolen said, it's a niche market, and I'm simply priced outta the market.

I'm sure it's worth every penny of $100K. Until this thread I had never heard nor seen a 70 series that new. This thread has put knowledge into my dome.

So, thanks

And I agree on both of ya'll 70-series owners comin' to SCC

well, interested in the Crawl :steer:
but
not sure how the old 5 cyl diesel will be with all them V8s and big lifts. i run 36" tractor tires and the truck is basicly stock.:hhmm:

Oh, you'll be fine. Come on over and join us in Oct. We have a blast! Great event if I do say so myself. Usually around 90 rigs there. Everything from stock to wild. Trails for all levels of experience. Take a look at Superlift ORV Park in Hotsprings, Arkansas to check out the park. Hope to see you there!

Somebody needs to get a 70 series so we can have one In the club. Maybe I can Talk Sheila into getting one. If she asks, tell her they are real " sporty" and "zippy" . Keywords in the fight against mediocre and boring vehicles...like Acuras

There was a couple from Cali. in a 70 series on the Alaska trip. Theirs was a left hand drive with a 3b diesel motor. I fell in love with that little truck. Reminded me of my old two door Montero from years ago but much nicer. I would love to find one.
