$60K AUD = $66K USD
then add shipping, customs (good luck getting it past customs)
then add trucking
then add registration hoops

$100K isn't so bad now is it?

take into consideration a Lexus in Canada is $100K+ ... i would take this one with the ugly fawkin front end over a Lexus any day of the week.

Amen.

Still looks like a trooper...but its sweet!

Keep in mind if you want a left hand drive (like mine) you will not be getting the Turbo diesel, you get a brand new 1HZ, I am ok with the compromise. Here is some more cruiser porn for ya.

Folks Michael is not a tease.....:D

Went to San Diego a few months back on business & man let me ride in a pimp 70 series something....

Then when I came back was going to let me barrow one to wheel.....

Michael see you on the trail again....

Clutchee,

When are you comming out?? hopefully soon, I am running out of cruisers to take wheeling :D

Cheers,

Michael

As much as I love that 76, you could have a 200 with the 5.7 V8 to DD and a couple of 80's to wheel for that kind of cash. That 76 is a VERY exclusive truck! I love its old school look and that 1HZ. What a shame that we can't get it here.

What makes it so expensive in AU or SA? Its mostly 15++ year technology, right? Are they produced at very low volumes?

to me it is the 20 year old technology that makes it worth every penny.
i hate computors, when the end hits and your fancy ass 80s and 200s stop running then i will be booting around in my 1 wire run 7* diesel running on canolla oil.

Good point Wayne. I like how you think.

What's it going to take to get these in the US? Yea RIGHT!

Crap! I didn't pay nearly enough for something to run on french fry grease. I screwed that one up.

I hate to say it but it looked better with out the ARB. The ARB hides to much of that beauty, but I would run it for protection.

Super nice truck.....that and a 427 Cobra and I would be set for life.

Here is the problem the stock bumper on the 76 series is s POS, it is held on by 4 small bolts and was ment to get wiped out in an accident, I wish they would have stayed with the old style front clip it was simple and a steel bumper that new one is all plastic, that is why I had to put an ARB up front.

The ride is actually pretty good, now that the front axle is wider than the rear it really tracks nice. The price is high because the fenders and most everyelse is pretty bullet proof like the old stuff and that thicker steel cost more, the boxed frame cost more then solid axle cost more. Keep in mind this is last solid front axle Toyota still makes.

Cheers,

Michael

I guess the bottom line is you have to really really really be into crusiers to spend the crazy money on a 76 series, and as a few of you that know me can testify to, I am that much into Cruisers...I would have to say it borders an obsession more than hobby. Imagine spending thousands of dollars up front and waiting over a year to get an exotic cruiser, if you can do that then you can own a 76 series or any other exoctic:eek:

Cheers,

Michael

and that is another reason why i like what i drive, i have one of five 70 series ragtops (ooops actually 2 of them), that is 40% of all diesel 70 series ragtops are in my back yard, i have the only PZJ78 in North America that is turbo'd and intercooled, i have the lowest km FJ75 in North America, the lowest km BJ70 ragtop in North America
and why?
cause i HATE following the crowd, i like standing out just idling into a parking lot.
and if it costs $70K or a $100K to be that way then so be it.

like i said before, i would rather drive a diesel 7* than some 200 series mall queen that looks the same as the other 10,000 200 series mall queens, no matter how cushy the ride.

seriously, there are those that like unique and there are those that keeps Toyota North America ... selling crappy NA knock offs.
Can you imagine how small the market would be for a $70,000 truck that rides like s*** in the US?

Toyota is smart, I hate it, but that is just the way the market is.

Magic Mike you need to come to the hills of AR in Oct to SCC and drink some beers with us southerners.

There are plenty of seats to sit in and come share some knowledge this way.
