I feel like my bumper shouldn't be subjected to that...

Maybe I should get one of the "Turbo" stickers for the side. Will that help?

I sprayed the rims yesterday. I really like the way they turned out:

Nathan with IPOR sent me a preview of my new bumper today... I can't wait for it to get finished and sent!

Okay, I fixed the alternator. That was fun!

https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/606291-alternator-clean-rebuild.html

I stopped short of starting the truck, however. I figure while I've got the battery box apart, I might as well redo the leads for the battery I bought. I pulled the main ground cable off of the motor, and it measures up to about 36". I'm looking at buying a new lead, or making my own from 1/0. Amazon has what I need, and I'll make a decision by tomorrow and get it to me early next week.

More to come!

Great stuff !

More pre-GSMTR work done. Took care of the rear axle rebuild. I documented that here for others to use:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/80-series-tech/732072-how-rear-axle-rebuild.html

I've also been working on the EGR delete, and "while I'm in there" I've been taking care of a few other things, namely removal of the valve cover, cleaning the upper intake manifold and throttle body, replacing the PCV valve, adding a Koso water temp sending unit, and doing the PHH.

PHH actually wasn't that bad. I spent more time getting bad studs out of my hub than I did getting the PHH done! Of course I removed the starter and front tire as well, but it really wasn't that bad.. not sure what all the fuss was about. Maybe also because I had the upper intake manifold out, that bolt that the PHH mounts to up by the EGR wasn't too hard to get out.

Valve cover came out nice and clean... but I still don't have everything back together yet :(

Front page updated with progress so far.

Pre-GSMTR pile 'o crap:

Yup, all that came off in the last couple of weeks and isn't going back on!

New IPOR rear bumper, new IPOR skid plate, EGR delete, PAIR delete, PHH bypass... just a LITTLE bit of work!

Got everything buttoned back up finally today. Still need to flush the radiator... but that'll have to wait for another day. Finally got my Koso water temp sensor in, too:

(Never mind the zero oil pressure on the gauge - I knocked off one of the leads on the oil pressure sender - spent two hours tracking that down - I didn't realize it needed two connectors on it!)

Changed out my cheap-ass harbor freight lights for an LED set from DDM Tuning:

Still haven't finished the wiring for those yet, but it'll get done this week.

Used some heat resistant material and JB weld on the EGR pipe... that worked pretty well, too.

I just looked at my list on the first page. I can't believe it's almost all done...

Wow, it GSMTR time again already. Hasn't gone myself yet, but when I do hopefully I can meet up with your convoy for the trip up.

Truck is looking great!

Thanks for the pics of the EGR pipe. I pulled my EGR and PAIR off last night based on your recent updates and pics. I didn't know what to do with the pipe sticking up. Don't some folks pull it off, or would the engine need to be out to do that?

Not a lot... lots of thinking about the next steps however.

I actually just pulled the trigger on R&P 5.29 set from Marlin, as well as their low range transfer case gear. I'm planning on changing to 37's soon, but I'm still debating on what I should do with my lift. I like the low center of gravity, but I also don't like the idea of bump-stopping the suspension... sooo I don't know if that will happen before GSMTR or not.

Some of it will, for sure!

Where did you purchase these particular lights? I know you can get LEDs pretty much anywhere, but ...
Once you take the bulb out, you can see the base it sits in:

I replaced them all with these:

You just take them out of the housing, and put 'em right back in the old base. Then all you have to do is get the polarity right so they light up :D

I picked those up from "Deal Extreme".

They also have other colors - that link is for green.

edit: looks like that one is sold out. But here's another, with even more LED's on it... for less...

Thanks, Man!!

Well, I finally think I've made up my mind on what I'm doing with the rubber on this truck.

I'm going to get some Pro Comp 97's (17"), and a set of 37" KM2's.

images.ashx

Of course that means 5.29's.

And I got the Marlin low range gear for my transfer case.

And now I'm gonna call Christo and get the 4" Slee kit... minus a couple of parts, I think. I'm going to take a chance on the DC and see how she runs with the stock shaft. I've also heard so-so things about the brake line extensions, so I'm just going to go with the OEM ones (90947-A2016, 96940-34605 and 96940-34705 for anyone curious).

As for the tires, I'm going to go have a conversation with a couple of local places and see if they can match prices. I can get the KM2's for $372/ea online... the rims for $66/ea... we'll see how it goes.

Now I'm starting to get the pre-GSMTR jitters again... can't wait to get all this stuff setup. I just hope my sliders don't need to be trimmed too much ;)

I think I'm also going to just remove the flares. Maybe, just maybe, I'll get the monstaliner on there as well...
