heh - motel 6 has wifi!

Drew should mention that flag is not in the wind - it's frozen solid!
And I wasn't drunk when I put my truck in that position, the road collapsed under me. Photo doesn't do it justice :D

Yeah, sure you weren't. Just hugging the inside line. :)

Well that was a great trip. I'll be back next year if remotely possible.
I did some calculating of fuel mileage and found out that following Drew is extremely good for mileage numbers :D
On the way down I was blasting into heavy winds a lot of the time, and rolling 115-125 km/h. Got from a worst of 20.18 mpg to an average of 22.5.
Coming back I went tempo de Drew, more like 100 km/h give or take. Mileage jumped to a whopping 27-28.5 mpg

No need, Drew, I'm just ribbin' him. I would imagine that such an event would give you a bit of a start!

It was funny... by the time I got to Norm's truck to see how he was doing all he could do is pass me his camera for some photos...

There were 2 of us on his slider... to help keep it up right durring recovery... I will did throw all of my photos and see if my dad got some more...

Haven't seen Martins 60 in any pics from Moab, did he make it?

road collapsed! sure.

Good thing you had those sliders eh Phil!
Nice photos cant wait too see more

Norm - Shim your wastegate to get more boost - I am sure it improves engine efficiency at the 4,000 to 7,000 feet we were running at. Next year I hope to have 3" exhaust and 15 psi boost to keep up on the Interstate. Jim of the Copper State Cruisers says the unofficial speed limit in Phoenix is 85 mph!

Hey Deny,

Yep I was there. Didn't spend much time with the local crew outside of comparing notes in camp. I'll dig up a few highlight shots, but it will take a bit of time. I have about 10Gigs of photos on the memory cards, so it might take a while.

No problems at the border in either direction.

Long drive both ways. I wouldn't have been able to keep up to the convoy on the way back without really pushing it. Headwind from Green River to Price, then again from Boise to central Oregon. Doing 55mph on a 75mph highway across the plains is tiring. We spent about half of Sunday in Arches NP. Took the back road out and reached highway at about 2:30. We made it to my goal for the day of getting past the Utah border by 11pm. Got home around lunch yesterday.

Spent the first 3 days seeing the area from Capitol Reef NP through to the San Rafeal Swell. Barely saw anyone in the backcountry dirt roads.

At CM did Poison Spider, Porcupine Rim and the upper end of Fins and Things, and Tip Toe Behind the Rocks followed by a scenic drive up Kane Creek Rd to Hurrah Pass. Had all kinds of weather from sun, rain, snow, hail. Slick rock is strange to wheel on beacause the grip is so good you can do stuff you don't think should be possible. Got the engine to fire up reverse rotation when I stalled on a steep climb :hillbilly:. Truck worked great but could use lower gearing for the rocks. Only damage is a flattened rear spring so the truck has a bit of a lean, no biggie.

We really enjoyed our trip to Utah; I know I will be back some day.

EDIT: Proof we were there.
