I wouldn't exactly call it awesome when you get outside of the truck by the side of the road to get your wipers unstuck from the freezing snow and get splattered with slush all over you by other vehicles  while Brittan yells "I love this"

my windshield wipers quit on me

and I left my gas tank cap somewhere  (after noticing that the power was out in the Kayenta station, I forgot to put it on before I drove away )

the ziploc bag held with a velcro strap over the tank opening worked just fine all the way into Phoenix :hillbilly:

Back in 2007 we learned NOT to take those easier rated runs on Porcupine Rim because people predisposed to "better ideas" tend to sign up for them - makes for some entertainment but more frustration. The guy in a 40 in front of me didn't make 100 yards before high centering on a rock and needing a strap. and that was only the begining. Great views at the top though.

Yesterday's Golden Spike run was awesome - but we kept asking "where's Don?", we thought you were going to run with the club...
Wednesday I talked to the trail boss "Greg" I asked to get into the Spike run on Thursday. He said it was full, but would keep me on the list for anyone who falls out. Wednesday night, I interrupted Greg to see if I got a spot and he said "no " . I went back to the hotel . Thursday night, I went back to my tent and there was a note on my chair that said he found a spot for me. Obviously I never got the note before the run. Bummer

Wow!~ I got a little snow in Flag on Saturday - but nothing like that! The brewing storm made for some great light and clouds - I buzzed thru Valley of the Gods on my way home, always spectacular

Truck is back in jail :frown:; pictures to come when I get back to Baton Rouge.

But in the meantime, I'd like to thank everyone for making this a truly enjoyable and memorable trip. Great drives, phantastic scenery, fabulous 'wheeling, and awesome company! I really think we all did well, and I believe CSC and the BC contingent are positive assets to the event! :grinpimp:

When are we going again? :)

Pix time?

Saturday Rob, Carl and I cruised up to Blanding, on the way stopped at Snake/River house. There was water in the wash making for more fun, looked like we were the first ones in there after the rains. Posted a bunch of pix of the ruin last year, so will spare them this year.

Then went over to the Butler Wash side in an attempt to find some spots that we had heard about. Failed at that attempt, so headed to Blanding to meet the rest of the group.

On Sunday we went out 95 to Mule Canyon/Texas Flat. Pix of Arch Canyon and Cathedral Arch from the Texas Flat overlook.

At the top is a trail along the ridge edge to the new highway cut, it provided some great views. The second pic is the opening to Arch Canyon, the trail climbing just to the right is Hotel Rock.

...
Where did you come out?

We have been out the 95 way a bunch of times, so this time we came out on highway 191 just south of the Ute Rez. Looked to be a cool area, but it was duskish, so hard to be sure?:hillbilly:

From the ridge we wound around a bunch of canyons and into Blanding via Edge of Cedars park. A  old wagon in a field.

Great pictures of a very remote feeling area that needs more exploration.
