It will rattle and squeak unless the boards are isolated w/ rubber, etc.

Bond the boards (I'd reco thin cut Balsa for weight) on canvas or similar and space properly and won't be an issue. Canvas base will let you match the roof line curves to a T.

Heyy @kelly saad some solid tips up in here 😁

I've towed my fj40 up i70 with our fj60 to moab. So around 5000lbs. That's about as much as I would feel comfortable towing on the passes, especially going down the passes. Coming down from Eisenhower is the toughest especially with the pavement being so rutted it tries to sway the trailer a little. I kept it to 45mph Going down, any faster felt too sketchy. Going up the pass at the time the 60 had a 350 sbc with my fj40 behind it. It did about 45 up the passes. That's been since swapped out for a bigger healthier motor since. Hardest part is keeping everything cool going up the passes when towing.

Right on... I'm looking at 3500-4000lb campers. I'll have all necessary Trailer brakes and caution items needed. Think I'll be ok...

Yeah I have a 3500lb offroad pop up I've been using. It's awesome, I love it. I got to get rid of it to free up some funds. It seems like a good weight range for colorado for a versatile camper though. A v8 swap really makes a 60 so much more useful in Colorado. You can pull a camper, load the cruiser up with people and gear, and still have power to keep up with traffic. Plus you can get gm parts everywhere. Make sure you hook up cruise control. Makes road trips a lot nicer.
