Saturday afternoon decided to go explore. Always up for an adventure and looked on Google Earth for some cool terrain to explore in the backcountry. No trails led into this steep canyon but was littered with pinnacles such as are in Crater Lake National Park. Even found a cave/ cavern. Fly fished the stream and caught some small trout.

Trying to get ideas of a back splash. This is the tile for the shower.

I’d cut the tile in half if I use it for a back splash.

Made pancakes on my backpacking stove Monday morning and decided to order another 2 units of gravel.

The grass meadow is really filling in.

Willy from Knife River showed up right on time. He was the first one to dump gravel for me back in fall of 2020. He was amazed how much had changed.

He was extremely impressed with the road fabric.

It all started with an idea…

This was the first pic I took of the man cave cabinet. It turned out even better than I expected.

This is the last of the pine boards, not bad. Used every one. I had several that had bowed but was able to somewhat straighten them when I nailed them.

I didn’t have Willy spread rock on this section as it’s like a half pipe. I need to roll the fabric back up and widen the road so the fabric will lay flat.

Finished road.

Walter came down and we loaded the dump trailer with more logs to mill and bring back so I can finish. In all it was a great trip and was very rewarding. I have basically all the amenities I need now and realize you don’t need all that much to be content. Thanks for following 🍿

Lookin great man

Really looks awesome! Have you considered a stainless backsplash grained like the sink? If you need any help with that I have some low cost resources for that kind of stuff.

Exploring areas off the beaten path, stuff not on the map, is one of my favorite things. I recently staked a 20 acre gold mining claim and built a campsite in an area with very limited access and lots of neat stuff to explore. I can't build a cabin, but my primary motivation was just getting access to the area. The USFS and it's leasees cannot restrict access to property owners, and mining claim holders are property owners because they own the minerals. Once I had the claim I got the head Ranger's personal number and combos to all the locks.

Is that near Granite/ Greenhorn/ or Sumpter?

With the bathhouse done now it may be a great time to start discussing a IH8MUD gathering for next year. I’ve been exploring the area and have some great places to go to and also eat, Cowboy Dinner Tree is amazing! Pelican Mountain has a road to its summit overlooking Klamath Lake.

Near the fringes of the Bull of the Woods wilderness in the Cascades.
That’s the area that burned in the Beechie Creek fire. Gold Creek… near the Opal Creek Wilderness. Sad what happened to Opal Creek. Very thankful I was able to backpack it before the big burn in 2020. What a magnificent stand of old growth Doug Fir☹️

99% of "the burn" is untouched. There is damage, but it is absurdly exaggerated. Detroit got the brunt of the damage.

Got home and built the siding drawer and front face of cabinet for the drawer.

@DRANGED I know we’ve talked about meeting up. Not sure if your headed to KFalls but I’m headed to the property this Thursday thru Monday.
Yeah man, i totally dropped that ball. Needed to spend time with the folks and we were on the 3rd week of ouor trip. we dilly-dallied @ LOW one day (requisite kids peddleboating experience :p ... those haven't changed in 30+ years!!).

Some day, but sadly (again) not that last trip...

Yer set-up's looking great! So is this the man-caved pumphouse until the cabin's built?

I’m taking it step by step as I go. Not trying to rush any of it but enjoy every step which is so nice. A cabin is in the plan but when… not sure but there will come a day. I’m really not sure what lot I’d build it on now?
My pumphouse and bathhouse lots are decked out for camping so maybe the ones on Cloudcap that I ran water to and built a road on.
