Friday morning went back to Diamond Lake but this time to ride bikes around the lake. This is a view of the resort and Mt. Bailey. The loop around the lake is 12 miles and completely paved which is great for families. The SW side has the best features with hills and curves through the woods. The rest is a relaxing ride around the lakeshore. It took us just over an hour to complete and that was with numerous stops and for pictures.

An absolutely epic day spending time with the family!

Got back after the bike ride as the family went home as I stayed to finish sheeting the front wall and knock in the new door.

Got the door latch and deadbolt installed just in time for dinner. Here are both structures with Milwaukee flood lights inside. Still need to finish sheeting the gables but super stoked how much got done even with the heat and spending time with the family.

Cleaned everything up and was sad I had to head home. So much was done and more to do but that’ll be another day.

All the Aspen trees I planted earlier in the month had been browsed heavily by the deer. In order to protect the trees I cut logs and fenced the trees in to keep them from getting browsed again. I constructed 7 total which was pretty labor intensive and my last project before I headed home.

Watering them through the week and keeping them protected allowed them to push a lot of new growth.

Aspen are a fantastic tree and play and important role in the forest and add beautiful fall color. It was a lot of work but should pay off.

@Hojack , FWIW, I'm coming to visit my folks in Klamath the 1st 2 weeks in Aug... IIRC, your trip down this way got cancelled, but I'm sure tooling around Crater Lake could be on our radar. ;)
Iffin' you're around I'm always up for a cup-o-joe! ;)

The second week of August may work. We’ll be camping the 5-8th. I’d be great to meet up for sure.

Getting ready to get power. When I bought the property the previous owner got the 3” PVC conduit installed. Need to dig and replumb the conduit so it’s closer to my pumphouse so it can be ran up to a meter.

I might try to run down there next Saturday for a quick trip. My buddy Travis and I are planning another week trip in late September. Right now the smoke from fires can be thick. I’m really ready for winter. It’s been record dry since April. I’d love a stormy winter we could use it!

The Lenz wildfire broke out Sunday in our community. I called our neighbor Walter and thankfully the Bootleg Fire is getting mopped up which allowed fire fighters to get this one quickly under control. It was still burning yesterday but he said they have cut fire lines with dozers. A few people lost structures.

Where is your place on here?

@Hojack

OMG, the smoke was wicked! Sorry I never reached out, it just didn't end up in the cards.
My folks (K Falls) don't have AC or evap cooling, and they ended up keeping windows shut, it was 85-88 most of the second week (inside the home)... I took kids and mom and bro (who'd come down from seattle area) to the coast for a few days. Anywhoo, on departure last Sat, due to Patton Meadow fire I had to reroute south through Canby and Alturas then back to Lakeview on my route back home...

Anyhoo, lo siento, hopefully another time our paths'll cross...

Setting up a swing set for the kids? :)

Was thinking about this property as I drove North on 97 two weeks ago. Met a group of friends in Bend and drove dirt to the Alvord Desert. Self-Service gas in OR? What IS the world coming to? LOL
