I legit have been wanting to do a Mitsubishi delica build.
Talked to a German guy at the Cade's Cove in Smoky Mountain National Park who shipped his Delica over and was touring the country. He had a new top put on it so he could stand up inside. It was a nifty setup.

Just test drove this badboy in falls church… ‘08 LC w/102k @$36k… if anyone is tempted here’s my readout…

- a little rusty underneath
- whine at about 55/60 mph (wheel bearings? CV?)
- an exclamation point dash warning light is on
- front parking sensors dont work
- drivers side headlight washer doesnt work
- drivers seat lumbar support doesnt deflate
- brakes pulsate a bit (maybe needs new rotors)
- *ninja edit: parking brake will not engage
- *ninja edit: rear cupholder looks like someone dragged an icepick across the plastic cover
- *ninja edit: passenger heated seat knob is broken (heated seat might be stuck in the on position)

Other than that a solid truck. Was thinking of swapping out my new 4runner because it rides a bit rough compared to a 200 but oddly enough I prefer the driving position (I like sitting low) and even rear seat position of the 4runner to the 200 after doing a back to back comparison so I’ll keep the 4runner.

Any of those items on the dealer's to-do list?

That one thing that is nice about that is the mileage - the other items are minor other than the rust. That’s hard to fix.

I loved my spacegear! I had the 4 cylinder 4g63(?) NA. Gutsy little motor! It had like a 2” lift with 31s. Did some light wheeling too. A queen size air mattress fit in the back. The “man-mobile” is what I called it.

Not sure. Seemed like they wanted to throw in a warranty and have the “warranty” company deal with any issues post sale. Not sure if I understood that correctly but given that they’re a ford dealer they didn’t seem interested in knowing about anything wrong with it. They were only willing to say that it was inspected and passed their inspection as a trade in- get this- on a 2013 land cruiser they had on the lot.

Oh, I didn't notice it was Ford. They have so many Toyota stores.

My 20 year old daughter, who is in College in VT, texted me asking if I knew what a Delica was. I told her, yes, I do know what a Delica is, and would buy her one, but I get to drive it as well!

She doesn't even have a license yet...

didn't they read the official mud rules? You get half back what you put into it...so this should be listed at $25k...

Rear bumper isn't rotted through, so there's hope it isn't a total mess underneath.

I'd love to turn that in to a dedicated wheeling rig. If I didn't just buy a 3/4 ton 8.1 Suburban I think my wife would have let me pick this up.

Edit:that went quick.

FYI, D&W Auto in Brandywine has an LX470. It's a pick and pull, they sell parts cheap. It looked complete, interior was pretty dirty. Bring tools, cash and call ahead to make sure its still there. They're into moving metal, so cars don't stick around for long.

Cheers!
