That IS crazy. Even the earlier gen 2500 bumpers are half the price and in line with the ranch hand style bumpers.

not sure how ARB expects more than 3 people in the US to buy them.

I see people driving around with mega $$$ RTTs on their super-shiny SUVs and trucks. #ImageIsEverything

Serious (non judgemental) question....

Are new car dealers pushing RTTs alongside floor mats and paint protection when you buy a new car these days?

I'm shocked at the frequency I see these things. And none of them ever look have been deployed.

its the new "it/in thing" you evidently cant be a real overlander unless you have one. I agree most look like they have never used them and when you see the online for sale ads most say they only used them a few times. I get it that it looks cool and is nice to have it up there out of the mud and all but for the price ....?
personally I like my ground tent... I spent good money on it and it has served me well when i use it a few times a year. When not in use it is in my storage closet... out of the way till i next need it. Not living on my roof killing my "stellar" /sic gas mileage!
Plus the 1200 - 3000$ can put lots of fuel in the truck as well.

The problem is if you want to wheel every day of an event you got to put that effer away every morning and redeploy when you're done in the afternoon. Then you got to worry about trees damaging it on the trail. The only way I'd run one of those is on top of an off road trailer so it can stay in camp.
