i think the flaw is in the gusset not going past the rear bushing on the axle mount.

oh well

Interesting it broke right at the stress riser at the end of the gussett. Post a pic of the fix, so we all can learn something.

i needed to extend the gusset all the way back past the end mount.
i may add some torsional gussets along the main one.

nope, the lack of extending it. no welds were hurt in the breakage.

Completely the wrong mindset

Yep, failed at the stress riser caused by the gusset. You have plenty of room to plate the sides and reweld the tar out of it. You can also see how it failed right next to the weld, the material around the weld was made brittle because of the welding process.

good i'm not alone, ripped my wrap bar off my axle yesterday and popped a pinion as a result. Drove off the trail 5 miles or so in reverse with the motor pinned and overheated it

What Material was that made of?

mine is 2x2 1/4" wall with no gusset.. but my bushings are not in line like that.. Thats alot of stress at that one point!
