I don't know how many of you are extras, but I'm applying to become a VE, and we only need 2-3 more to administer an exam. Technically, just 2-3 more general class license holders will do.
How many more extra or general class holders are out there?
I hope to be taking my exam soon. I snagged the Icom 2100 up on mud bay awhile back knowing the day would come. I got it all hooked up in the living room and started listening.. sorta. I was playing with the DTMF buttons on the microphone and then looked down to see that I was actually transmitting. OH SH*T!! oops. I got up and went to the window to see if the FCC van had pulled up.
Since then I've kept the mic cord disconnected. lol.
OK, maybe a stupid question but I was curious if there is a difference in the cable for the antenna from a CB to a HAM. I know the antenna is different but if the wire is the same I could just switch out my current antenna and switch the cable from the CB to the HAM and be done with it!
Otherwise I will have to run another cable and I would assume I would want to run it down the opposite side as the CB line.
Yep - I used the same Diamond hatch mount for both ham and CB. Used the 10' extension from Diamond for both since it's so tiny and then a regular coax 6' extension to get one of them up front to the CB. No issues at all retuning the CB or with receiption/transmission. Ham is in back of the truck so no extension needed. The Diamond 10' is damn expensive, but worth the smaller wire to put thru the hatch.
